I think I have a cracked rib
I have a sharp stabbing pain in my rib every time I laugh, cough, sneeze or even take a deep breath. It even hurts if I try to sit up really straight. I assumed it was a bruise, but it's been 6 days and it hasn't gone away.
Should I go to a doctor? I assume they'll just give me painkillers and tell me it will be a few weeks. Is there any good reason I should go (I don't have a GP, and with the inauguration it seems unlikely I'll get an appointment within the next 5 days)?.
"We tend to be patronizing about the poor in a very specific sense, which is that we tend to think,
Re: I think I have a cracked rib
That's a good point, internal bleeding would be bad. I'm going to call my husband's GP and see if they can't get me in sometime early next week.
Bunny--there was a minor struggle involved with our abduction in Nicaragua, and I think this is the result. I have a few small bruises, but until the last day or two thought that was the extent of it.
I hope no one makes me laugh too hard at the GTG on Monday
OMG. That is awful. I am so sorry. I hope you are okay!
yikes! feel better! I would think that going to the Dr couldnt hurt - agree that would be good to rule out anything bad below the surface.
Mentally/emotionally - how are you doing?
Emotionally I'm doing alright. Unfortunately my husband had a previously planned business trip starting the day after we got home, so he's been out of the country since Wednesday morning (possibly until the end of February). I'm trying to spend a lot of time with friends, but at the end of the day I still have to come home alone to sleep, which is a little rough. I haven't had a great night's sleep in a while.
Overall, I am doing well though, it's just going to take a little bit of time to be totally over this
Thanks ladies.
My two best friends are roommates, and I did crash on their couch last night, which was nice. With the inauguration everyone has guests in town right now, so it's a little hard to get a good slumber party together!
My in-laws were taking care of our cat while we were on vacation, and they're supposed to bring her back (they're about 2.5 hours away) after this weekend.
Abduction?! Good heavens, what did I miss?!!
I'm so sorry to hear about that, and about the rib
You might think about talking to someone (counselor, etc) just to touch base with the feelings that are surely bouncing around after a traumatic experience. I'm sorry your hubz is out of town, but it's great you have good friends around.
Take care, and I hope to see you on Monday, family-stuff permitting.
And go get that rib checked out! I'm sure GW and other places still have their Urgent Care centers open.
