What's your favorite Mexican restaurant (East and West shores)?

We like Rancho Grande on Carlisle Pike.  We've been to Fiesta Mexico once and I liked the atmosphere there.

Re: What's your favorite Mexican restaurant (East and West shores)?

  • I've only ever been to Fiesta Mexico and El Rodeo (one time to each of them) but I liked Fiesta Mexico a little better than El Rodeo.
  • I have only been to El Rodeo (like four or five different ones).  There is only one thing I like really - fried chicken chimichanga - so I don't know if I would care where I was getting it (i would like nachos or plain tacos too but that's boring.  i don't like rice and beans and i'm not big on onions or peppers in stuff so that rules out about anything else).

It's not true mexican but I really like Moe's Southwest Grille.  There's one by Banana in the Susquehanna Shoppes and over by the new Target near the airport.  I wish they'd build one over here.

  • I have only been to El Rodeo so I don't have anything else ot compare it to, but we love it.  Their fajitas are so good! I was just looking at their menu online this morning.....cravings Stick out tongue

  • Herbie's in Oberlin is great! It's more authentic than El Rodeo, which I still love, and often has mariachi bands that play. I highly recommend it!

My other favorites are the Lemoyne El Rodeo (haven't been there in a few years, but it used to be the best!) and Fiesta Mexico.

  • Dittoing Emmy's recommendation of Herby's in Oberlin - they have fantastic food.  A little farther away, Montezuma's in Chambersburg and Gettysburg is awesome - hands down the best Mexican I've ever had in this area. :)
  • Hands down El Sol downtown...it is the ONLY authentic Mexican restaurant in the Harrisburg/Mech area! SOOOOO fresh and SOOOOO Yummy!
  • I love El Rodeo!  Vegetarian #1 is the best!

I have also been to Fiesta Mexico...they are ok.  They have the same menu as El Rodeo and I think El Rodeo has better food!

El Sol in Harrisburg is also pretty good!  They have good alcoholic drinks!

  • We go to El Rodeo on the east shore pretty frequently. DH likes Herbies, which he also says is more authentic, but I don't care for it as much (I freely admit that I also like "American Mexican" food better than the food in Mexico proper so "authentic" doesn't necessarily mean good to me!). We tried El Sol a couple of weeks ago and both liked it very much.
  • I like Fiesta Mexico and El Sol the best.   The Service at Fiesta Mexico is not always great!!   El Sol has the best margaritas!!
  • Wow - I can't believe no one mentioned Sierra Madre on the Carlisle Pike! We love going there with DH's family. Yum!

We also tried El Sol in Harrisburg this past summer and enjoyed their food as well.
