Plus Beth, I live about hr hour from Hoboken. It's nice and right off the water from NYC. You guys will have fun
I have been on 14 cruises in my life. Many different cruise lines including the ones asked about.
Carnival- More kids/families. The food isnt fresh (frozen- same every day). Smaller ships. Basic destinations.
RC- Cleaner. For couples and older people. Fresh food (breads and such) made every day on ship. Private island options. Beautiful ships.
Other cruise lines to check out would be Princess, Norwegian and Celebrity.
Avoid Holland America- its mostly for retired folk.
