How's everyone's weekend going?
I had a great workout this morning. Last day of my first week of couch to 5k. I really pushed myself. The nice thing about running on the track is that there's lots of good markers, so set goals for myself for each running interval...eg, end of the bleachers, a bench, a garbage can, etc.
I think tomorrow I'll go for a walk, take Tuesday off, and start with week 2 on Wednesday.
Hope everyone is having a good day!
Re: (#) Sunday check in
I've had a pretty good weekend. I splurged on Friday and had homemade garlic bread in addition to pasta, as well as three beers. I had a nice swim yesterday. It was a little tough because I hadn't been swimming in almost a week. I'm about to go for another. I did 20 laps yesterday, and I'm hoping to do at least 25, if not 30, today. I made pancakes this morning, but we skipped the maple syrup in favor of powdered sugar because maple syrup has so many freaking calories. I have tomorrow off of work, but I'm still planning to get up and go for a swim.
Congrats on couch to 5k, ESF! I'm looking forward to starting it again. In just a couple of months, I hope to be swimming in the mornings and running in the evenings. I prefer to run in the morning, but the pool is less crowded in the early morning. It's now warm enough to run outside (high of 20 today!), but I think it's too cold for starting on week 1 since there's so much walking.
Nice job, ladies!!
I'm doing well today--Chipotle burrito bol (vegan) and granola. Totally delicious and not too bad on calories. DH and I are making a "healthy shopping trip" to the grocery store today to pick up tons of good stuff.
I've been doing the Wii Fit every day, and I love it!!
Well I'm not sure if this is (#) related but I am planning on making a bunch of healthy meals today to then freeze and take with me to work each day. I've never done anything like this before but I'm pretty stoked to try. I plan on making: Soup (butternut, split pea), Veggie Lasagna, Veggie Stir Fry, and Veggie Burritos.
Also I ordered the Crunch Yoga DVD that Soprano suggested in the thread below. It looks a little less granola then the one I currently have which I'm not a big fan of.
Your good health adventures inspire me!
(BB--how is wii fit?! I really want one!)
Way to go, folks! ESF, let me know how couch to 5K week two is. I found it considerably more difficult than week one, but am powering through and moving on to week 3 tomorrow.
Well, today is a bust. Am slightly hungover so eating poorly, and am thinking about going to the gym but I probably will opt to stay in my warm house, watch movies and do laundry.
Wii Fit is AMAZING. I thought it would be really terrible for the yoga and stuff, but honestly, I'm getting more feedback than I ever got in class! It knows how/why my balance is off, etc. It tells me and helps me correct.
And the aerobic stuff is really fun. I'm really into the 6 minute hula hoop. It really works your legs, hips, and butt. Your abs get some working out too! And I'm totally winded and sweaty after. It's great because my husband kicks my ass in most exercises, but that one is mine. I'm also really good at the tree yoga pose. I conclude it was my years of Irish dance.
Good to know! I was considering doing it tomorrow, but I'm really achy right now. And Tuesday's out, as I'm planning on spending the whole day switching between work and the inauguration. So it's probably good I'm giving myself a break before upping the intensity.
I did 25 laps today at the pool, which is the most I've ever done. Woot!
ESF and Brookles, don't hesitate to repeat weeks. I remember finding the jump from week 3 to 4 to be particularly difficult, and I was actually running about 5x per week rather than 3x.
Feel better, mrsvtjaime!
Thanks for the input, bridey. I will probably have to repeat a week or so, as I'm still a pretty craptastic runner.
