I'm usually a lurker here but had to post. I was 5 days late getting AF and decided to test this morning and it came up positive!!! I'm so excited and can't believe it. We've been actively trying for months and nothing. Then we decided to not stress or actively try and it happened!!! I just had to share. I'm planning on going to doc ASAP to confirm it. Any other advice?
Re: Great news!
First: Congratulations! My advice? Keep the news to yourself for a while..like 12 weeks or so. It'll be hard, but it really is the best thing you can do until you find out that things are progressing normally and you have a healthy little bean in there. DH and I kind of enjoyed having DS be our little secret for a while.
Second..why are you lurking?! C'mon in! :-)
That's awesome! Congrats!
Funny you mentioned that since DH and I already were talking about when we should tell people. My mom's b-day is in a week and I would love to tell her but think I should wait a bit. Will the doctor be able to tell me anything this early on? I feel like there is so much for me to learn and know.
Congratulations!
We didn't see our dr until 8 weeks too - when I called they said if the HPT says you're pregnant, then you're pregnant..hehe! I was so nervous until we actually got confirmation from the dr.
As far as advice - just enjoy it (if you aren't sick) and look up things you should and shouldn't eat and meds you can and can't take. Other than that, your doctor will give you LOTS of info, i'm sure.

Also, the first "milestone" you want to get through is seeing the HB on an u/s.....this can be any time after 6 weeks. The chance of m/c goes down a lot after detecting a HB.
But yes, there's lots to learn.?
Hey VMB! ?YAY for you!!! I'm really happy for you. ? We couldn't keep it secret when we found out and told EVEYONE when I was six weeks along. LOL. ?
You Boxer is going to be the BEST big brother!!
?
Congrats and welcome to the board!! I happened to have my annual exam scheduled a week or so after I got my BFP -so they just confirmed with a urine test. Then I was sent for bloodwork. I dont think I believe it until I saw that heartbeat at our 8 week ultrasound!
We didn't wait to tell everyone. Both our families were coming over that day for H's bday and we rarely have them all together (his family lives 2 hrs away). So we decided to tell them. We knew we wouldn't go the whole 12 weeks without telling them, so we figured why not. It obviously would have been hard, but I would have wanted the support of our family if something did go wrong in that first trimester.
So it all depends on how you feel about the situation.
