Sunday Update on Dad
Evening Update....Sunday Jan 18
Just got home from the hospital...Dad is off the ventilator but he is still out of it and on oxygen...he is trying to cough up the phlem from the pneumonia... He will open his eyes but he can't talk.. he either mumbles or shakes his head yes or no. He's still running a fever although it is lower than yesterday... 102 compared to 105.. So the fever is slowly starting to break.... They also took his dialysis catheter out for the time being since they think thats where the blood infection is coming from.. They will put in a temp one so they can do dialysis on Tuesday... which I cant wait for because with them giving him bags and bags and bags of IV's and without his kidney's functioning there is no way for the fluids to leave his body so he starting to swell again
Mu mom did make a desision and talked to the drs about it today and she decided that if it comes to where he would have to go on a ventilator again, that she would prefer he not go on it... Then they asked if they could put an oxygen mask over his mouth and she said that would be fine but she doesnt want any tubes stuck down his throat again.

It sounds like you guys are doing all you can for your Dad and your family.
Glad to hear there are signs of improvement. Hope things continue to improve. Does your dad have a DNR??? (none of my business, feel free to not answer if you do not want to).
