I know this sort of goes without saying, but everyone be very careful driving home tonight, the roads (at least around me) are really bad.
I headed for work at little after 2 and ended up sliding into a telephone pole. I'm fine, but my car wasn't looking so pretty.
Again, be careful!
Re: Be careful driving!!
The roads were horrible. We ran out to run some errands (at the time they said under an inch/dusting...wrong again!) and when we got back our entire neighborhood was a sheet of ice covered by snow. The roads in our development are very hilly, and we almost ended up going into someone's front yard even with DH's 4WD in his truck. We were able to put it in a ditch instead and carried our groceries the rest of the way. Some neighbors behind us weren't so lucky and had a pretty bad collision. Why we pay a hefty HOA fine who are supposed to treat the roads and then they wait 4 hours is beyond me. They finally came out and DH asked why nothing had been treated--this was 2:30 and it started snowing here at 10. I guess they too thought it wasn't going to be this bad. We finally got our truck to our driveway a little bit ago.
On Rt. 70 there was a 40 car pileup. As of now, they're only reporting two deaths. So sad though.
Be careful everyone!?
This weather was crazy! I noticed it starting to snow mid-morning, and I checked WHTM and accuweather, and both were still reporting just flurries, so I headed out to run errands/see a movie with a friend about 35 mins away. By the time I was ready to come home (3:45), it wasn't snowing, but the roads were pretty blah. I got onto rt. 30 and ended up sitting for half an hour before I got out of the car and another guy (trying to make his way to his house) stopped and told me and the woman in front of me that a telephone pole was down and it was going to be several HOURS until 30 was clear. I turned around and ended up driving through parts of my area I've never seen before... took me over an hour to get home. Yuck!
So sorry about your car... at least you're okay, which is the important part! Stay safe, everyone!
... every single day of forever.
This sounds like our situation too. It got bad when we were out and they weren't calling for it. It was scary, especially with how people were driving and going all over the place.
Yeah, the cop that came couldn't even stay until the tow company was done, he had 3 more accidents to get to.
According to my insurance, it will be listed as an at fault accident, but at least there were no other cars involved and I really am fine, I'm leaning on a heating pad, but that's a common state for my back.
Ashlee--your drive home sounds no better than ours! At least we could walk the 1/2 mile to our house, although I proceeded to fall with groceries in hand. Now I have a stiff arm : (?
Think we can have a two hour delay tomorrow and miss out on some of these dreaded meetings? : ) I know our roads in the development still look horrible!
Stacey--yeah and Maryland drivers all over the place doesn't help anything!?
