Just wanted to come here to get your opinions...
Let me start by saying that we wanted to pick a name with the same initials as DH and his dad, JDL. So we decided on Jaxon Daniel, since Daniel is DH's middle name. Well, I noticed that DH's family in particular kept calling him and offering up different names that started with a D.
He wanted to know why, then they said that they didn't want the poor child to be called "Jack Daniel" his whole life. Well, it was kind of funny at first, but now it's just downright irritating. MIL came for a visit this weekend and just yesterday offered up another D name, I had to bite my tongue. If we had just picked the name and it wasn't a part of DH's, it would be different.
DH let them know that we would be deciding the name, no matter what anyone else thought. I just want to say...
1. His name won't be Jackson, and we won't be calling him Jack, or Jaxon Daniel for that matter. We will call him Jaxon, or "Jax"
2. How many kids are really going to know his middle name until he's much older?
3. He may actually like the nickname when he's in high school, lol. (I'm really kidding about that)
4. How many elementary school age kids know what Jack Daniels is anyway???? I would be more worried that my 8 year old knew what whiskey was than if he was calling a little boy by the name.
I was just wondering if I should be more concerned about this than I am? TIA
Oh, and we have already laid down the "it's our name to pick, so if we decide to change it, then WE will change it...but not for somebody else!"
Re: Baby name question...(long)
This is why I won't reveal baby names until the baby is born, smart advice I was given by my sister when she was born.
That being said, Jason Daniel is a fine name, and it's tue about middle names not being a big deal when kids are young.
That is a cute name. I'm also going to have Daniel as a middle name for my father/DH. I was thinking about doing myself Jonathan Daniel.
I don't think kids are going to pick on him, until is way older. Also if you send out birth annoucements, your friends and family might bring up the Jack Daniels thing. It might bug you as well.
Haha, that's funny! MIL said that she called DH Jarrett Daniel one day in a store, and a lady asked her if she had named her child Jack Daniel. I think people should just butt out of everyone else's business!
Oh, and my aunt, who named her son Jaeger, was one of the main ones saying something about it! I think that's a little closer to Jaegermeister than Jaxon is to JD.
