Looking for suggestions, please
I would post this on the Knot, but those girls scare me and you ladies are much more helpful :-) I'm just starting to plan my sister's bridal shower and I'm looking for suggestions for favors. I don't want to spend a ton of money, but I'd like something useful or interesting that won't get thrown away on the way out the door. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!
Re: Looking for suggestions, please
The favors at my shower were little coffee scoops shaped as a heart. They were very cute and we use them every weekend.
For my shower, they did scratch off lottery tix, little bags of candy and either a measuring spoon set in the shape of hearts or a bottle opener in the shape of a heart. There weren't many of them left when we were cleaning up.
A shower I went to a few months ago had two different types of votive holders, a swan and something else and I just threw it away when I got home. Wine stoppers are always good or a mini bottle of wine
Anything edible always goes.
They gave out ring pops at my shower and candy necklaces. Long running joke with me so it worked well.
My cousin had a tea, so the favor was a bead wrapped tea spoon and some teas. Useful and pretty.
My showers had more prizes for the games then favosr, other then some candy in Cinderella slippers and chocolates I made. One of the bridesmaids worked at Bath and Body Works, so everyone got to chose a goodie from there when they won a game (everyone won for something). They are having a super sale, so that might be an option.
I think Plantable Favors are cute and your guests can take them home, plant them and wildflowers will grow. There are some cute favors on this site: http://tinyurl.com/9zuaun
I agree that edible is the way to go! My bridesmaids made cookies in K's and A's (for Krista and Alex) and hearts. They wrapped them in tulle and tied them with a ribbon in our wedding colors with a tag that said "krista's bridal shower" on it. I think there is a pic in my bio.
For my friend's shower we did m&m's wrapped in tulle for her one shower and shower gel that said "from Melissa's shower to yours on the tag" (apparently this is a tradition for her group of hs friends' showers).
For my shower my sister did little plastic cubes filled with purple jelly beans and tied with a purple ribbon and a label that said "Kristen's Bridal Shower". For her shower, we did heart shaped cookie cutters that had cookie recipes attached on a little card. She got married 2 days after Valentine's Day, so her "theme" was hearts.
Edible is always a good way to go.
My MOH for my shower used a little wallet sized photo of DH (then FI) & I and put it in a clear acrylic frame w/ magenet on back.
When I saw them on the table at the shower, I thought to myself it was a pretty dumb favor (shhhhh don't tell her! LOL)
But I gotta tell ya, everyone (well who's houses I've been to since) have them displayed on their fridge almost 3 years later!!

They must have gotten this idea from book or something. They did the same thing at my shower K and M cookies with pink sprinkles wrapped in pink tulle, white ribbon and the hangtag had an L for my new last name. This was cute idea and I have the cookie cutters still.
