fact: college students are gross and stupid
We had to make a stop at Beau last night to see the tenants. Their carbon monoxide detector was going off. They replaced the battery and it stopped going off. However we still stopped by to check everything out anyway.
The place is effing gross. Most college kids live in some degree of filth, but these girls are disgusting. They aren't as bad as our previous (male) tenants, but still really bad. I could go on and on describing how effing nasty the place is. Highlight of the filth include a sink full of cig. butts and tomato sauce mold. The unidentified brown goop on the kitchen floor came in a close second. But it was hard to see past the two kegs they had chilling out by the fridge.
They painted the living room bright orange. We had the whole place painted a nice off white color... did they think we wouldn't notice that half the downstairs is now orange?
No pets allowed. They had or have a cat. As evidence by the cat food out on the floor and the litter box in the downstairs bathroom that hasn't been scooped. ever. I gagged when I opened the bathroom door. Cats can make for a ripe smell when owners don't scoop the box.
No one was home or if anyone was they didn't come down to meet us. The front door was unlocked, as well as the back slider. There was a 2k Mac Book sitting right on the coffee table.
We've provided them with bolt locks and emails detailing the fact that they have to keep the door locked at all times. Even when home! Our first tenants got robbed while home because they left the door unlocked..
College students. I swear.

You can evict them if they really bug you. If it is no pets, then they are in breach of the lease. Oh, and charge them for repainting - as a tenant has to return the walls to original color when leaving.
Renters can be so gross. We didn't realize how lazy our landlord was until we moved in, and the previous tentants left it a mess. They stole the blinds and put up paper ones. They didn't clean ANYTHING, there was hair in every drawer and the fridge took me hours to clean. There was even sticky chocolate on the fan pull. I used shelf papers everywhere because I didn't feel I could get things clean enough!
It's so frustrating. We had that place looking awesome when they moved in. The girls couldn't stop talking about how great everything looked. New paint, all new flooring, scrubbed clean and a gutted and redone bathroom. It took a month and a half of extremely hard work on our part to get the place up to snuff. AND I got chased by a rabid groundhog while working on it. Man.
I guess I should be happy. The unit behind us has spray paint all over the walls.
No eviction. That is too much of a hassle and they aren't that terrible as renters. Just the dirtiest girls I've ever seen. I'm just venting about how gross they are.
Yuk!! I've seen guys live like that, but I can't believe girls can too! Are you telling them they need to get rid of the cat?
My parents always had a rental property and I couldn't believe how gross people can be. And these weren't even college students - working adults. My dad was throwing up when he cleaned the apt b/c they had pets and didn't clean up after them. After that - no more pets!
