I'm going to DH's BFF's birthday dinner at a sushi place and it's BYOB.
BFF's GF is bringing wine, but I thought maybe a bottle of Sake? It's a always a good time.
*fade to flashback*
I learned about Sake many moons ago while out on the town in San Francisco back in the day. There I met Mickey. A sweet Irish boy right off the plane. At the end of the night he asked for my number. I told him I was from Pennsylvania, and he said, "I don't know where that is."
That kid could have read the phone book and I would have listened.
*fade to black, roll credits, flash forward present day*
Re: Sake is Japanese right?
Sake is usually served warm (at least whenever I've had it). If the place is BYOB, would you be able to heat it up? Unless, of course, you don't mind drinking it cold. It's not bad that way.
And you're flashback reminds me of my own little flashback (mine fades in with wavy lines though).

I was studying abroad in England my senior year of college. There were a few days in the beginning of the trip that we spend with host families. It was suggested that you bring a little gift for your host family and we were told that a good idea is to bring something that's reminiscent of where you live. So I brought a coffee table book of scenic pictures of Pennsylvania. I gave it to them. They looked at me blankly and said they had no idea where PA is. I explained that it's a state on the East Coast of the US. Philadelphia is our major city and we're only about two hours from New York City. Their eyes glazed over. They mumbled thanks and handed the book to their four-year-old who started ripping the pages out. I knew I should have brought something edible!

Muchas gracias for the link. Could've googled, but you guys are more fun.
I forgot about warming it though. I haven't had it in awhile but I remember we said a Japanese phrase to toast and I thought that might be fun for a birthday.
