So it's a little early...

but I was just wondering how far in advance should I take out the top of my wedding cake? My 1st anniversary is not until May but I was thinking about it today.

Re: So it's a little early...

  • I'm not a pro or anything, but I would assume just long enough to defrost it.  Perhaps a day?  Hope it tastes good!

  • We took ours out the day before, be prepared, it's probably going to suck. We were warned this before hand so we bought cupcakes as back up lol.
  • I hope it does not suck, our cake was really good. I guess I will have to have a back up plan as well. Thanks!

  • It will taste nothing like it did on your wedding day. ?So, be prepared.

I would think a day to defrost.?

  • We took it out a day before. Is it pathetic that I can't bring myself to throw out our cake even though it's been more than two years? For some reason I just can't do it even though I'd love the extra freezer space.

  • I took ours out of the freezer about a day ahead of time.  I don't think it tasted too bad, but it definetly tasted better at room temperature than straight out of the refrigerator.  The icing did not taste the same as it did on our wedding day, it tasted too much like shortening.

  • We took ours out a day before.  My mom did a great job wrapping it up and it tasted REALLY good!

No,  we are coming up on two years and our cake is still in the freezer.  It was awful tasting too.  When we move next week,  I still have no clue what we will do with it.

  • Take it out a day or 2 early and put it in the fridge, dont thaw it at  room temperature, defrst it slowly.  I did this with ours and it tasted GREAT! I did wrap it about 4 times alternating betweent sran wrap and aluminum foil.
