So my weekend has gone down the tubes.
Last night, we had planned to have soup and take it easy, particularly since Thursday and Friday weren't great diet days for me. Well, long story short, we were supposed to see a friend of DH's that he had not seen in 10 years yesterday afternoon. That got derailed, and changed to dinner. So, it's 7:00, I had not eaten anything in 7 hours, and found myself at some crappy diner where the healthiest thing on the menu was a burger and fries, but since there was a group of 13, including kids, protesting was pointless. So burger and fries it was, and it sucked. Total waste of calories.
Not 10 minutes after we left that restaurant, another friend called and invited us over for dinner tonight. Apparently they found some great deal on oxtails, and wanted us over. DH loves oxtails, and I've always wanted to try them. And, they are the most amazing cooks ever, and always bust out really, really good wine when we are over, so I'll be blowing the diet again tonight.
I was deciding whether or not to attend this French cooking thing over at a friend's on MOnday night, but that's definitely out now.
I need friends that don't like to eat and drink quite so much.
I did do my last day of week 2 of couch 2 5k today, so all is not totally hopeless.
Hopefully everyone is having better weekends than me.
Re: (#) Sunday check in
Sorry to hear that, ESF. Just start fresh tomorrow and don't worry about the past. It happens!
I hear you about needing friends that don't like to eat or drink. Most of our friends don't cook much, but everybody loves to go out, and of course we all love to drink up here. Since my H is now also counting his points, we are trying to have people over here as much as possible instead of going out because we can control what is served.
B: skipped - slept in and by the time I was hungry, it was 11:30
L: leftover Greek meatballs and potatoes
S: probably clementines, maybe some string cheese or crackers
Ex: going swimming for sure since I was lazy and didn't make it yesterday. waiting until about 3:00 or 4:00 since last week the pool was pretty empty around then
ESF, hang in there. The reality is that we can't always control situations, so focus on the choices you can make while you're in a less than ideal one. You're exercising, which is great. Congrats on doing so well on C25K so far! It sounds like you're making good choices, so just carry forward in that knowledge. I always plan to be super-strict during the weeks so I can be off the wagon, so to speak, on the weekends. Oh, and the more exercise you do, the more wine and cheese you can fit in ;-) Personally, I'd rather take 3 months to lose weight and do it in a manner where I can still enjoy myself, than be crazy-strict for a month and never have any of my favorites.
Bridey, I'm swimming today too! And I also was lazy yesterday -- too late a night with too strong a couple G&Ts on Friday!
B: bran muffin and skim latte (not my finest)
L: ww pasta and homemade sauce
So sorry, ESF! I'm sure you'll do better this week!
B: Toast with cheddar
L: Vegan burrito bol at Chipotle
Exercise: Why, the Wii Fit of course!
I've already eaten about 1000 calories today, so I have to make sure I stick to my calories tonight.
Thanks ladies!

I totally agree with this. The reality is that my friends are always going to be good cooks who serve good wine, so depriving myself isn't really going to help me long term.
I have been very religious about only ever having one helping, and I'm going to be sure to do that again tonight. I think that alone can make a huge difference. And I'm in charge of dessert, and I'm making a very light cake with blood oranges, so at least I won't be finishing off the meal with a mound of chocolate and sugar.
And the check ins are totally keeping me on track exercise-wise and helping me reflect on my choices, so I love that we do them.
Congrats on all the good work so far, everyone!
That's a very healthy attitude-- sounds like you're being realistic.
Well, yesterday was good, but today's been rather crappy. I just returned from an Australia Day party and the Australians I know don't eat particularly healthy ;-). I'm trying to muster up the energy to go to the gym, but it's cold and snowy and an evening on the couch with Battlestar Gallactica is sounding mighty nice right about now.
I'll echo Brookles -- you've got the right attitude. There might come a point where you decide, hey, I want to step things up. I'll cut back wine to x nights a week, or increase the exercise to allow for more wine. But the real key is recognizing that it's all choices and tradeoffs. I didn't really feel like going to the pool today, but now I'll let myself sleep in one morning instead of going to the gym, or I'll dig into the Drunken Goat in my fridge (yum).
The check-ins are great for me as well. I love coming in to report my one mile swim
Brooks, sounds like you only need popcorn to make your night complete! ;-)
My weekend has been ok, eating wise. Not great, but ok. I am finally starting to feel human again, so I think I will start my workout routine tomorrow. My plan is to do Couch to 5k (my first week, I hope it works for me!) Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, followed by a 30 Day Shred workout. Then Tuesdays and Thursdays I will do a one hour yoga/pilates class.
We'll see how it goes! I'm looking forward to starting!
