Re: pocono recs

  • some girlfriends and i recently rented a house in arrowhead lakes.  took about 1.5 hours to get there from philly (well, bryn mawr), but we got lost.  it was about an hour back.  i think we paid $500 for the weekend for a 3 BR house.  you should go to visitpa.com and have a look around.  they have a bunch of great deals and i think january is cabin fever month--buy a night get one free perhaps?  hth!
  • DHs family does a long weekend every spring and fall just outside Jim Thorpe, a quaint little town.  Nearby is hiking, biking, skiing, boating, fishing, deer spotting, white water rafting and beautiful mountain views.  There are B&Bs in the town itself, and there are tons of rental cottages/cabins around the area.  We stay in Bear Creek Estates.

  • We stayed at Camelback Mountain after winning a weekend from a bridal fair. it was out of season since it's a ski resort, but still nice. We pretty much had the place to ourselves. We visited Bushkill Falls and a few other places while there.
