Need recommendations!

So we are having Eli's birthday party this weekend and there are about 50ish people coming. ?Not sure what to plan for the food! ?We are having some people bring food, kind of potluck! ?Its at 1:00 on Saturday and I kinda just wanted it to be like more substantial snacky type foods. ?What can you recommend and like how much of each? ?thanks! ?

Re: Need recommendations!

  • Snacky foods/apps sound good. What about also serving something you can make ahead of time and keep in a crock pot like meatballs or soup? I have a new recipe for Taco Soup that I love, and it was super easy to make and made a good bit. You could even double it. You top it with crushed tortilla chips, cheese and sour cream. Very good and even easier to make.?

  • What about getting a few sandwich platters from Subway? It is pretty inexpensive.

  • We always had sloppy joes (manwiches) at our birthday parties growing up.  You could easily keep them warm in a crock pot.

  • When we have large groups over we do a combo of what two PP suggested:  We make a big crockpot of meatballs for meatball sandwiches, and we get a tray of turkey roll ups from costco.  Those sandwiches, complimented by tons of snacks seem to please.

    Good luck!

  • Thanks for all of the suggestions. ?I talked with my neighbor and told her what I was thinking and she was like, just have cake and ice cream! ?haha, its at 1:00 so people will have already eaten lunch. ?I think I am going to try to get like a veggie tray or two, then get chips and pretzels and then just the cake and ice cream. ?Ask some people to bring a drink or two. ?I forgot we are also having people over for the super bowl so itis going to be crazy!?
