So I posted earlier that we got our OPK happy face today. We set up an appointment for TOMORROW at 11:40. I got some time off from work and we were set to meet up at the clinic for insem #1. All of a sudden M gets a call at noon TODAY asking where she is and why she hasn't arrived for her appointment. They had already began thawing the sperm and she needed to get there asap. SERIOUSLY?!?! Thankfully she works 10 minutes away and was able to scramble and get over there so we wouldn't be wasting a vial and all the money invested in it. Unfortunatley for me I can't be there with her! She was going to discuss this with them but I think we may go back for another try tommorrow as planned. We are trying to take this all in stride and look at it as just better chances this month. At least I can go tomorrow and no use getting worked up about it, but I am still a little in shock and sad I wasn't there!
Anyone have any thoughts about trying again tomorrow? Or would you just hope this worked and wait until next month?
Re: Date mess up! Yikes!
That is a serious screw up by your RE!!! I would discuss this with them ASAP and yes, I would try again tomorrow. Frozen sperm doesn't stay alive as long as fresh so to cover all your bases, do a second insem tomorrow.
I am so sorry that happened but hope it has a happy outcome :-)
Oh that stinks! I think you are trying to have a good attitude about it. I would have been sad that S wasn't with me but I have friend who is doing iui and her husband can never be there and it is really quick anyway so I am sure that M will be fine. On the what to do about tomorrow note I think I would prob. say go for it. Can't hurt (except the pocket book) right? One of the books says to do b2b and all the people I know that are using fresh sperm do b2b so it might be a good way to go. I guess I would make the appointment and then see if you think she ovulates within the 12 hr period after the iui. If so then I might not do a second iui. If you don't think she has ovulated in the morning then I would go in again. Does that make sense?
I can't believe they thawed your sample before you got there. I think they always did it when we arrived. I would ask about that perhaps they will give you a free iui. Sorry your first try is starting out so crazy. Onour last try our midwife suggested that if it didn't work we should try on the day our kit turned so perhaps it will all work out.
wow - thats really fustrating and you're handling it so wonderfully; i'm super impressed!
if you've got room in the budget, I'd do another insem tomorrow. better odds and you'll have O covered that way.

WOW! that sucks that your RE didn't have everything in order. Well, I wish you both the best of luck. I would try again on tomorrow just to have all bases covered.
It makes sense but how would we be able to tell if she ovulates for sure? If you have time you could email me at rye612 at aol. com
Thanks everyone for your advice and support. It has taken the excitement out of this first try a little and made us somewhat concerned we are getting our timing right, but I guess all we can do is hope for the best. I am slightly annoyed at them for the mix up but they suggested that we be more clear about the day and obviously next time we will double and triple check we are both on the same page.
Wow I can't believe they messed that up. I would definately do B2B's. We did that for all our IUI's.
My RE's office wouldn't thaw specimens until we got there and signed a release for them to thaw. I would see if they can compensate you in some way for mixing that up.
Best of luckthis cycle.
