(#) Wednesday check-in

Well, I ate more at office lunch yesterday than I planned to, but I wrote it all down and deducted from my flex points. Our dinner was light, so that helped. I think I only had 4 fruits/veggies yesterday, but I should get 3 fruits and 2 veggies in today.

Got up and went swimming - third day in a row! - but I had to share a lane with Mr. Strongy McSwimsfast.  He's a big dude, so anytime he passed me (which was a lot), I felt like I was being slapped by a tidal wave. Got a little more water up the nose than usual. But I did 20 laps! Woohoo!

Pre-breakfast: 2 cookies (I was hungry when I got home from swimming, and they were just right there, screaming, "Brooke, eat us!  Eeeeeat us!")

B: yogurt with granola

S: banana

L: rice & beans with cheese, carrots

S: pineapple, maybe string cheese

D:chicken tortilla soup with fixings

Dessert: clementines

Hehe. Cookies say the same thing to me. Damn them, they are so tempting to all of us Brookes. Wink

I am planning on going to the gym to start C25k week 4, but it might not be open because Cinci can't clear roads worth beans, and we have a level 3 snow emergency. And yes, I am at work, and am p1ssed about it. Stuptards.

    B: oatmeal, v8

L: brown rice w/ morningstar burger

    S: apple, carrots, raspberry smoothie

D: salmon, whatever veggie I have in the fridge.

  • So far, good day.  Yesterday was pretty good too.  I'm going to go for a walk later today.

    B - yogurt and banana

L - Soup and cheese and crackers

D - Pasta with collard green pesto (epicurious recipe that I made yesterday, it's pretty good)

Snacks...a pear, and we'll see.  Maybe a cookie Wink

Can I just say that I'm loving the soups from Trader Joes?  The kinds that come in a carton, not can?  They taste really good and they are super easy.  I had only ever tried the tomato soup one, but yesterday I had a Vegetable Medley that was made with coconut milk.  It's awesome.  And there's only 110 calories in a cup.

I just got one of them for the first time the other day. I was debating between Butternut Squash and Vegetable Medley. Butternut won out this time. I love that most of TJ's prepared foods are relatively safe from preservatives, hfcs and other garbage.

So I'm trying out the WW free trial this week but it's giving me flashbacks of when I obsessed over calories, fat grams and other numbers way too much with nothing to show for it. I'll probably cancel it but a week long eating reality check can't hurt.?

  • The past week has been hellish for me. I have had The Cold That Will Not Go Away for well over a week. Weird thing with the cold--I feel the physical desire to eat because I couldn't TASTE anything, and yet, my brain could think only of chocolate chip cookies, macaroni and cheese and plain ole tons and tons of comfort food. But like I said--since I couldn't TASTE anything, I didn't indulge. I ate what I needed basically just to keep myself from starving :)

I also didn't exercise much. I ended up missing three gym sessions and had my first workout back this morning.

You think all of that combined would probably give me a loss at the scale--even a false one--but apparently NOT. Instead, I GAINED 1.8 pounds. I almost cried. I am starting to think I am supposed to be this weight forever because despite crazy amounts of exercise, WW, and yes, a thyroid check (normal), I haven't been able to consistently lose weight in forever. And I am way bigger than I should be...weight SHOULD be coming off.

It's maddening, but I just keep on keeping on. I journal everything, I'm back to the gym and I just need to see what happens at my meeting next week. Sigh.

  • I haven't been good about checking in, but I have been good about # stuff!

I finally have a workout routine which consists of:

Couch 2 5k running Monday, Wednesday and either Friday or Saturday, followed by 30 Day Shred video if I'm not too exhausted by the run, which I have been so far.

1 hour Yoga-lates class Tuesday and Thursday.

My eating has been pretty good, too. My work schedule is usually 2-9 or so, so we've been eating a large-ish meal around 5:00, and then just eating a salad when we get home, which is much, much better than eating a full dinner after 9:00 every night. Been eating either oatmeal or scrambled eggs for breakfast.
