Computer upgrade help (need suggestions)

Hello all!

My DH needs to upgrade some things on his home computer. I know we can go to Best Buy/Geek Squad, but they are so over priced. Any suggestions on another company or tech person. (We used to have a computer guy but he stopped when he got a new job.)

It doesn't have to be a house call.

Re: Computer upgrade help (need suggestions)

  • We used to go to Computer Nuts, I think it was called, on Lake Underhill, but that was ages ago (maybe 10 years almost), so I don't know if they're still there or if they're any good anymore. Sorry!
  • My DH is really techy...he buys all his computer supplies from newegg.com or jnr.com and installs/upgrades them all himself.

What kind of upgrades is he looking to make? Maybe I can ask DH and he can help out. :-)

  • Most desktop upgrades are really simple to do yourself- and it's definitely cheaper to do it that way. We've always liked Cheap Guys/Smart Guys when we needed parts right away, though- good pricing and it's nice working with people who really know what they're talking about (it's always kind of funny to walk through the computer section at Best Buy or Circuit City and eavesdrop on the absolutely horrible advice their salespeople give people ;).

i have to agree! DH is a computer engineer and also builds PCs (he built all of our home PCs). He gets his parts from Newegg.com. What kind of upgrades does he want to make?

  • The computer upgrades are on hold right now. (I think he needed a external hard drive and maybe some more memory) Oh, and I think soemthing is wrong with his on button -- I don't know . . . I don't ever go into his home office and play with his computer.

I will have to get back with y'all and your suggestions later . . . so many other things ahve been going on and/or are higher up on the "to do" list. It never ends.

    Thanks for your help though!!!!
