Oregon Wine tour info needed

Hi ladies!  I am from Seattle and DH and I are thinking about taking a wine trip for our one year anniversarry (not until next July).  I know nothing about Oregon wine touring (except the fact that they have a lot of Pino Noir's which are our favorite).  Can anyone give me any info such as where to stay, what wineries to visit, etc?  Thank you!

Re: Oregon Wine tour info needed

  • Check out the wineries section of my blog for some links and info: http://oregongetawas.blogspot.com/search/label/Wineries

There is more than one wine region in the state. Are you looking at visiting the Gorge, Willamette or Southern Oregon areas? The Willamette Valley is known for its Pinots and is the largest. The Southern OR area has drier weather and thus, you'll find some Bordeaux as well as other varietals. I'm not as fond of many of the Gorge-area wineries. They tend to be fruity, IMO.

  • One of my ALL time favorite wine tours was the Seven Feathers Casino in Southern Oregon.

It's the cheapest tour I have been on before, but the best feature is that you travel from place to place in a trolly. The trolly has wheels so it travels on the freeway, but its open so you sit on the sides and can see the views, carry your wine onboard and have a blast.

The wineries are great (Pinot's are our favorite as well), and Henry Estate is by far the best winery I have been too! We have actually gone up to Seattle for wine tasting.... you will enjoy this trip!

    Good luck!
