For those of you with iPods...

What kind do you have?  What do you like about it?  What do you wish was different?

I'm trying to decide between the new Nano, the Touch, and the honkin' classic iPod.  I think the Touch wins, but I'd like to do some unofficial research!

TIA!

Re: For those of you with iPods...

  • I have a classic iPod.  I like it for the size, a nano would be too small for the amount of music I like to have.

The nano or something smaller is good if you like to run with it.

I really like the touch though too and it has a good amount of space, I just prefer more.  I love having a touch phone and I've seen people with the touch and it is very nice.

  • I have a shuffle and a nano (not the new nano, the one right before this one).  I still have tons of room for all of my music on my nano (it's 8G) and same with the shuffle - I have enough room for my "workout music" and it's great to take along to the gym, you just clip it and go.

  • I have two different generations of the Nanos (one I bought when they first came out; one came free with my MacBook).  I prefer them for their size and portability - I've never needed a ton of space, but the current one I have is 8 GB and it's plenty.  DH has a 30 GB video and a 4 GB Nano and has been happy with both, but the video is definitely a lot bigger/more awkward to carry.

MIL just bought a 160 GB classic last Christmas and takes that thing everywhere.  Yes, she has enough songs that she NEEDED the 160 GB.  Crazy.

BIL has a touch (came free with his MacBook this summer) and loves it.  It does everything that the iPhone does except make calls, and it's so neat.  If I were in the market currently, I'd definitely do a touch.

  • I have the new gen 80 gig classic ipod.  if the touch had more memory, I'd have gotten that.  mine has video and such on it.
  • I have an iPod and bought it simply because I want to use it for the gym and when DH and I make longer trips. I didn't need to see what was playing currently on a screen or anything. As far as the iTouch goes it's great because it does soo much more. It plays music, I could type up memos to  myself instead of using post-its. It holds games, you can check the weather, search the net and look up directions/maps. If you want to spend that much (it's not a whole lot just more than I'm willing to spend right now with our budget but want one real soon.) then go for it. Since it does so much more it's worth it. I guess it all depends on what you are using it for- just for music or what basically a palm device.
  • I have a classic and love it.  I am getting an iphone for my b-day otherwise I think I would switch to the touch because it has a larger screen, cool new apps, and you can get wireless internet on it.  The only downside is that it doesn't have as much storage as a classic.  If you get a classic make sure you get the game Peggle, it is very fun and addicting!
  • DH has a classic and I have an old gen 1 pre-video classic.  While the touch is nice I think its a little asinine for them to make something so cool with such a small amount of memory in comparison to the size of the classic.  If the memory were bigger I'd be asking for the touch, since its not, a new classic is on my Christmas list.

  • If the touch had more memory we would have went with that one.  I think we have the 80GB video one.  I bought it for DH last Christmas and it's been one the best gifts for both of us.  I love having all of our CD's on it so that we can use it in either car.

  • I have the touch and I love it! Like someone said- it does everything the iphone does but makes calls.  My calendar is in there, maps, the internet (if you are somewhere that has wireless), games- a Godsend when I was waiting in line to vote, pictures, videos.  Even though the memory is limited- I still have a ton of space.

  • Ditto Stacey and Jen (love the way she put that)...I have/had a 30GB black classic Ipod video (Byron chomped into it of course) and I loved the amount of room for music, podcasts, and tv/movies.  If the touch had more memory I would definitely get that to replace mine.  I still have my old, original Ipod mini (4 GB) that is still going strong but I use it to keep my teaching music on for classes at work.

I think I'm going with the 120 GB classic this time which might be a present this year.

  • I have the 16 GB Nano and I like it. The 16 GB was only $50 more than the 8 GB so I thought it was worth the extra money for double the space.
