Okay, so who tried to warn me about the Twilight books?
I think I remember a post a little while back...about how disappointing it was when our little star-crossed lovers finally stopped being so 'star-crossed.'
You were right. Disappointing.
Making it worse, was that I had all the snarky comments from that post in my head as I was reading.
*note: I tried to keep this as vague as possible, to avoid spoilers for anyone still reading. But let's just say I just finished the first part of the fourth book.
disappointed, disappointed, disappointed!

my read shelf:
Oh, well, they're still fluffy literary crack. Don't get me wrong.
I zoomed through two and three...and got to the start of four and was like, "That's it? Some vague innuendo and feathers? AYFKM?"
Then I remembered the thread, lol. And someone posting about the author being Mormon--which would probably explain the PG-ishness of it.
LOL.
Now, who can recommend some real stuff for grownups? Anyone? I read Ann Rice a few years ago and actually, didn't care for it...
I've been lurking on the book board, but I'm almost afraid to come out of hiding over there, lol.

Queen Betsy series by Mary Janice Davidson
Undead and Unwed is the first one. There are seven (so far) and they all start with Undead in the title. Here is the synopsis for the first one:
Undead and Unwed by Mary Janice Davidson
Betsy Taylor--former model, newly unemployed secretary, 30, and still single--wakes up after being flattened by a small SUV in a tacky coffin wearing cheap knock-off shoes. Her mother is glad she is back, albeit as a vampire, but her stepmother is enraged that Betsy has reclaimed her designer-shoe collection. With a wealthy best friend and a newly acquired doctor pal who is not susceptible to her formidable allure, she sets out to right wrongs but is abducted by Nostro, a tacky 500-year-old vampire who rules the undead roost. It seems that Betsy is an anomaly: a vampire who doesn't burn in sunlight, can fight the urge to feed, and is not repulsed by religious articles, all of which may make her the prophesied Queen of the Vampires. Teaming up with gorgeous vampire Eric Sinclair, who is in her opinion a major pervert, she takes on Nostro and his minions. Sexy, steamy, and laugh-out-loud funny, Davidson's chick-lit foray into the paranormal is delightful.
my read shelf:
Hey, book sex is hot.
I think H has an appreciation for my love of book sex
Which may be why HE is miffed at the Twilight stuff I keep telling him, lol.
"That's it?"
I know, I know. This is what I kept trying to remind myself of, lol. It's for kids. Kids shouldn't be reading about vampy teenage sex. And worse, I shouldn't be reading YA books, lol.
I liked book 4 best in the series, and wasn't that miffed about the PG sex. i wouldn't even have noticed it really, it was in keeping with the rest of the series. Its fluff. Nice, easy read fluff.
I liked the movie too.
