Babysitting Questions

How much would/do you pay a babysitter?  I"m looking at an MSU student that I know and trust, but I have no idea what the going rate is.  Any ideas?

We pay our high school girls $5/hr and that is low, I know. I would not pay any more than $7-8/hour.

I have no practical experience with this, but I Googled it just to see and supposedly the average is anywhere from $4-$12 an hour depending on location, age of babysitter, and age of child.

I think it depends on the length of time. If you're having them come over for one hour, I'd make sure to make it worth their while ($15ish). If it's for, say, a date night, then I'd pay $5/hour for a high school girl, $8-$10 for a college girl with educational type credits. I don't think you can pay too much as they are taking care of your baby. You don't want them to feel slighted.

I have no clue but I'd like to know once you come to an agreement. We have a lot of family locally so we haven't had to hire a "babysitter" yet per se, but I have paid a friend to watch her a few times and want to make sure I pay enough. Will you let me know please?

Just remember that you get what you pay for! I would probably give $7-8 an hour, family kids $10 or more.
