Anything go wrong at your wedding?

Hi All,

Our wedding was great because of the people who were with us, but....a few things are still bugging me.  I'm really letting go of some of the things that didn't go as planned, but what do you think about these things?

Hotel staff didn't serve hubby & I any hors d' ourvres or drinks during cocktail hour. I guess we were supposed to get our own...I kind of assumed we'd be able to get one but we just couldn't break away from our guests, & didn't want tot!!

Wine service during dinner didn't start until after everyone (including our head table) was eating the entree. When we signed the contract, the banquet manager made the "wine service throughout dinner" such a talking point...

Hotel staff was taking down tables at the back of the room before the reception was over at 1230. There were lots of people in the bar area & on the dance floor, &they were gathering centerpieces & removing all the decorations from about 8 tables at the back! So tacky & fiance & I only noticed when everyone was leaving at 1245a.m., but do I have a right to complain or am I obsessing?

Photog didn't take many group pics of our guests at their tables. There are some good ones, but many are  too artsy. She didn't organize family group photos either. Did we need to spell out everything??? She didn't take a pic of my maid of honor (my sister)  & I either. Only group wedding party photos.

Please share about your wedding. It helps put things in perspective! It's frustrating though because it was so expensive & we spent so much time planning. Don't get me wrong--we had a great night, but we know what was supposed to happen...

Me: 42, DH: 43. We are so grateful to have a 2yr old daughter, conceived naturally after 3 miscarriages & no treatments (our Dr. gave us 1 more month to try on our own before advacing to IVF, & we conceived her naturally in January 2010)! Trying since April 2011 without sucess....MD said we were both "fine" & that if it wasn't happening, it was a chromosomal issue. Finally started Follistim 225mcg injections with an Ovidrel trigger November 2012. Bleeding 11 days post Ovidrel on November 25th. Starting the whole lab/Ultrasound/Follistim cycle again on November 27th...

Re: Anything go wrong at your wedding?

  • nothing goes as planned! our photogragher was terrible and her pics were not good and we DID spell out who and what we wanted pics of. There is just so much that goes into that one day that things are bound to be lower than expected but you are happily married and it sounds like you still had a great time so I wouldnt dwell on it any longer. Just remember the good!
  • Thanks. I don't know why but it really helps to hear about people's experiences when things did not go well. I'm also mad that the hotel "misplaced" the wedding frame that all of our guests signed, but I will let that go too.

Was your photog someone you found out about on the Knot? Did you do a vendor review?

no she was a family friend. For what its worth (and if she happens to read this) lots of ppl loved my pics they just were not what I wanted at all. ANd no I did not vendor reviews. If ppl ask me then I will share my experience thats all.

  • No one's wedding goes off perfectly as planned....but I feel that the little quirks is what make each wedding unique....instead of looking on the bad side, I find the humor of the situation.

For my wedding, the main thing that happened is that the best man (husbands cousin) had emergency appendix removal 24 hours before the wedding.  We didnt know if he was going to be able to stand up in the wedding.   He was able to after all, but he was VERY drugged up.  In every picture of him his eyes are totally bugged out, and he was loopy the whole day.  Instead of being upset about it all, we know laugh about it.

Another thing was that we had made music cds as favors for everyone.  Not only did they never get passed out as planned, the facility coordinator found them the next day in another banquet room, tossed everywhere out of their cases as if they were frisbees!  There was over 100 cds, so I was shocked to hear this.  Doesnt get more bizarre than that!

  • I have no clue if anything went wrong at our wedding and I plan on keeping it like that!  LOL.  I told everyone that day not to tell me when things didn't go according to plan and just to fix them before I noticed them.  I was on the dance floor 99.9% of the night, so unless the dance floor fell apart, I wasn't noticing anything...haha.
