Why do we feel the need to clean before the cleaning lady comes?
I saw this in Nicole's post the other day and now I'm finding myself doing it again. My mom gave us a cleaning lady for 3 months as my shower gift (and it's been wonderful let me tell you!) But for some reason I find myself scrambling before she gets here to get my house clean for her. LOL. My house isn't dirty by any means but I've been up since 4:30 for Casey's feeding and couldn't go back to sleep because I had so much to do. God forbid I would have cleaned yesterday at a reasonable hour... No, I like to wait till the last minute.
Re: Why do we feel the need to clean before the cleaning lady comes?
It's probably a combination of a) you know where your stuff goes, and the cleaning lady doesn't, so she can do the real cleaning -the vacuuming and scrubbing- without having to manuever around or trying to figure out where you keep your scrapbooking supplies or 5 lb hand weights.
or b) you don't actually want the person being paid to clean your house to know how messy you really keep it!
the hub is convinced that it's option b.
signed,
SAHM who picks up crap all over the house every wednesday morning?
I drive DH nuts because I always make him tidy up before she comes.
She comes 2 times a month. I want her to focus on scrubbing floors and bathrooms, and the kitchen... NOT on picking up his dirty clothes off the floor.
I also agree with the above, in that I have a particular place I keep things and it DRIVES ME CRAZY, when I come home after she cleans and it can't find something. It will literally take me weeks to find it again. For instance, my favorite pair of yoga pants have been missing for 5 weeks, I can't find them anywhere. then we get to packing for our thanksgiving trip, and I find them folded nicely in the drawer that has all our ski/winter clothes. (gloves/hats/ski pants, etc). Why on earth would she think that yoga pants belong with winter clothes?
i'm so happy I found them. But yes... I run around like a nut trying to put everything where it belongs so all she has to focus on is the scrubbing.
