So I got suckered into the office SS, even though I sent an email opting out when it was first brought up. Aparently, they forgot and pulling my name out after all the names had been drawn woudl have been a PITA. So whatever, I will do it. We are just short on $$ so I didnt really want to spend what we do have on a coworker I dont know well.
Then, I get this email.
To kick off the holiday season, we are starting Secret Santa buddies early in the month!!
We picked names today. (If you were unavailable, a name was picked for you. You will receive an email under separate cover.
This year, there are no rules - let?s make it fun for all!! If you want to give your ?buddy? something daily, weekly, it?s up to you. Just have fun, and make your buddy feel special during the holiday season, but don?t forget the week of the 22nd.
So now I am not only stuck buying one gift, I am supposed to buy mulitiple gifts over the course of 3 weeks, and there is no price limit? I am going to feel like a douche if I spend $10 and the person who has me spends $30.
This was not very well thought out, and I am irritated I am stuck in the middle of it now.
Ugh.
Re: Office Secret Santa
That is craziness. Multiple gifts? Nuh-uh. The only person I work with who'll get multiple gifts is DH.
This makes me thankful we do a white elephant.
Did my old office manager come to your office?
We did that last year and honestly, we were pretty cheap. Coffee Shop gift cards, 12-packs of diet coke, etc.
That is ridiculous. I hate office Secret Santas, they annoy the crap out of me. This one just sounds totally unreasonable and chaotic.
Baked goods, crap from the dollar store (like a coffee mug or something), and the stocking stuffer aisles at Target will probably get you some halfway decent stuff for not a lot of money.
Or you could steal office supplies and give him some brightly colored post its.
This is sounding like the best idea so far
I dont mind secret santas, but I would like to at least have a monetary amount that we are supposed to spend and a few guidlines. But oh well. Thanks for all the good ideas
