I don't understand why she such a *itch

I asked my boss if could take a vacation day Friday ( she took one yesterday), she tells me " well so far I don't have anything planned so as long as I don't plan anything". She does this to me everytime.  I have to practically beg.  I asked for my birthday off like a month in advance and she said the same thing.  Uhmm...you know the county has floaters.  Thats what their job is.  To fill in when someone wants off.  She won't use them though.  She said she's not going to pay me and them.  She acts like she pays everyone out of her pocket. I am so mad right now.

  • She seems to have a lot of issues, not only with employees, yet morals and ethics. She needs to be toned down a few notches.  Is she like that w/everyone or just you??  I don't know if I'd be able to stand her!!!
  • Wow.  I don't think I could work with anybody like that. I agree with Casie, she has alot of moral and ethics issues.  Hopefully something can be done about that.  I'm sorry she gives you such a hard time.
    Siggy coming soon....
  • Wow, that's ridiculous.  It's your vacation time you earned - she should give it to you without being difficult.

I'm sorry - I hope she gives you the day.

  • She really does have issues.  She is extremely hard to work for.  We are the only 2 employees here.  We have maintenance workers but hey have their own building.  They have a supervisor that falls under her, but they don't have to ask her to take days off like I do.  All they have do is ask their supervisor ( which by the way is an extremely cool dude who would never tell them no). When I took on this job I knew that the girl before me just up and left and told no one why.  Since I've been here I have learned that the girl before wasn't the only one.  There have been 5 people in my position in 4 years. I really need a new job.

  • I'm sorry sweetie.  Nobody deserves to be treated like their boss that way.  I'll send you good job vibes!!!!

  • I'm am so sorry that you have a bad boss!  Is there anyone that is above her that you could report your problems with her with?  It sucks that she is that mean and vindictive!

I hope you can either have that job get way better or get another job...good job vibes coming your way!

I went to our HR department and talked to them about it.  They are aware that there are problems here but basically there's nothing they can do to help.  She was hired by the Atiport Board Commisioners and not by the County Supervisors.  So basically from what I was told they really have no authority over her.  It's just a bas situation.  I've tried to make the best out of it but then I realized that there was just nothing I could do.

Thank you guys for listening and being there.  I think my dad and DH are tired of hearing me gripe (which I can  understand).  Thanks ya'll!

  • sorry. i hope she lets you off. i couldn't imagine not being able to take off if/when i wanted/needed to.
  • Does she legally have any leg to stand on, refusing your vacation days? I would assume that just as long as you give her enough notice, it wouldn't matter. Next time I'd TELL her that I was taking off such and such day and to not plan anything then. What's she gonna do? Fire you? Sounds like it's hard enough to keep someone in that position as it is, the last thing they're gonna want is to fire you... but I'd look for another job anyway. ;)
