Re: TTC Wednesday

  • Julie and I have none. We are just enjoying life together, talking walks w/ our pup in the brisk air, loving life. We are getting pretty jazzed about the holidays though!

We have been talking about getting another puppy, raphael needs a buddy, so if we do get another, that will be our family for a while, and we are okay with that.

Julie graduated college this past week though, and that is one HUGE check mark off our PCP list, up next her masters, and my ba.

  • nope. we're taking a talking-about-babies hiatus. much needed but very hard.
  • Ugh... I wish I had anything to share, but I'm sort of in holding at the moment.

I was so much more relaxed this month about the whole thing (which was nice)... up until the last few days when I was suddenly just completely consumed by the need to know! Lol. I took a test yesterday, 14 dpo, which was negative. It's not over until my period arrives, but that was late enough that I'm really not holding out any hope at all. I guess we'll see though. If I do get my period soon, then hopefully 3rd time will be the charm.

  • We are still on a break and I am rather bitter about the whole thing right now :-(
  • I am about to put two 2.5 year old boys on CraigsList, if anyone is interested. Stick out tongue Kidding, but they sure are giving us a run for our money these days (not listening to us, into everything, blah, blah, blah.) It is enough to drive us batty.

We are also starting to potty train, which means taking two kids to the potty every 30 minutes. And for boys, you have to strip them from the waist down (and when we are out, that means shoes too) so they can sit on the potty and lean forward and not spray the entire bathroom.  By the time we get each kid to sit there for a few minutes, get re-dressed, and re-shoed it is time to start the process over again. Sigh. I'll be so happy when potty training is done - but at that rate, I think we have several more months of this. Sigh.

But they are adorable. Last night Carter was lying in bed with me watching Caillou before bed and said, "Carter loves Mommy" and then gave me a big hug. Big Smile

    awwww!

random question....do the boys call you both mommy or do you have separate names?

  • i've been really depressed. and i mean really. i haven't been talking about it, but i've been on the verge of crying pretty much all the time for the last few weeks--although i was doing a little better yesterday evening and am trying to stay positive today. i didn't even realize how bad it's been until this past week or so.

i don't think i was at all prepared for how stressful this whole process was going to be or how much it would affect me. i thought i was prepared, knowing the statistics and how long it takes some people, especially for the first six months or so. i did fine on the first go, and last time i had pretty much assumed that it would fail because of everything going on so i thought i was doing okay, but i guess not. i have a lot of other stress going on as well (c's uncle, my sister's gf, end of the quarter craziness, holidays), which isn't helping matters. this is one crazy emotional roller coaster i'm on.

we had our third insem on monday morning. i really hope the third time is a charm for us.

  • They call us both Mommy or Mama. We didn't pick specific names for ourselves and figured the boys would figure out what they want to call us.  99% of the time if Grayson yells for Mommy, he wants L and if Carter yells Mommy, he wants me.  If the "wrong" one comes, Grayson will keep yelling "Mommy!" and Carter will say, "No, the OTHER Mommy!" They verbalize that they have 2 mommies and will point to us and say, "one mommy, two mommies!"

  • we are in week 2 of the tww and it is starting to get to me although it is better than last month.  I am due for my period to start on sat but I have no idea when it will be since last month I was late.  I am not planning on testing until 14 dpiu which won't be until tuesday.  We will see if my period of day 14 comes first.  I am still hopeful for this cycle but I know it may take a while.

blue I am sorry you have been having a hard time.  I have high hopes for this month for you guys!

  • well first I want to send out hopeful wishes to you all that are trying to get PG. I hope this holiday season brings you all the best present of all. I have a son who will be turning 12 this december and I'm glad mine wasn't so hard to have. He's a fantastic kid and very saavy for his age. He loves Sandy and thinks hanging out with us is totally cool. I'm savoring that while it lasts! A few more years and I guess we won't be so cool anymore...ah....teenagers....

In other news, Sandy had her finals this week and is now able to travel with me for my job so no more nights apart. We are of course VERY happy about this! In fact I am picking her up after work tonight a day early so we can celebrate. She made 100 on her math final! Woo HOO!!

So a nice dinner and lots of "dessert" later is on our agenda to celebrate.

    Take care all!

  • We're careening towards our revised start date of April '09. It is coming faster than I'd expected, but we are slowly getting ready (I think we've finally picked a contractor to put on our new roof).

I am still trying to figure out how to spend out my health savings account. I am starting to get worried about losing all that money (several thousand dollars). I called yesterday to find out if I can use it to buy sperm, and the person I was talking to clearly didn't know the answer, and every time she put me on hold to talk to her supervisor, she came back with a slightly different answer. I'd hate to spend several $k on sperm and then not be able to be reimbursed (we assume we'd buy all one donor-- our first choice-- but then what if his samples are no good and we want to switch donors? arrgh!).

By any chance, can anyone confirm for me that they have been reimbursed for sperm from a Federal FSA? (Just thought I'd take a shot.)

  • I got reimbursed for sperm bought through Fairfax Cryobank. It came out of my 2006 FSA account without a problem.  Good luck!

  • We really have to figure out our finances which is starting to feel like ... ? ? ? "what if we can never have kids?" ?Which means lets not talk about it for awhile until we can figure out a plan that will be successful. ?Right now, this means no Christmas presents for anyone .. which makes me feel bad. ?I am a real gift giver. ?I don't even know how I will do it. ?I wanted to give my family some wedding pix, etc .. and I can't even figure that out. ?BUT on the other hand .. we had a BEAUTIFUL wedding, gave a lot of gifts at it, got a lot of beautiful things and are so excited with our little life that everything else will work out. ?I am working on that last part. :)

  • I actually have some news this week. We made an appointment at the same center that ssg is using (thanks for the recommendation!). At that time Michele will have an exam and we will have a consulation to find out what exactly we need to be doing and get all of our questions answered. This is all very exciting. We been reading up and started tracking. We also let some of our family members and friends in on our plans and everyone seemed very excited for us.

  • glad the rec helped.  We are really happy with them.  Also we skipped the exam after the consult since I was healthy and had a gyn exam within the year.  Saved us like $200 so M has had an exam already this year bring those records and you prob can be one step ahead.

  • Thanks Sam! M actually is due for an exam anyways so we figured we would just get it all done there and get that step out of the way. They sounded really nice on the phone and we are looking forward to our appointment right after Christmas. Good luck with your second try this month! I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you.
  • Hey all,

For those of you who are in the throes of TTC, hang in there.  I remember how stressful it was especially for W, even though it didn't take us that long.  It is a way tougher experience that either of us had anticipated.  I wish you all luck and strength.

As for us, the due date is only 5 weeks away.  W is getting quite large and carrying all in front like a basketball.  We mostly have our birthplan figured out and finished our birthing class this past Monday.  We are using a doula who we think is great and will have our first meeting with her on Monday.  Time is ticking forward, before you know it, we will be parents.  I can't believe it!

    hugs to all of you,
    Joanna

  • I woke up this morning with a headache and my period. A very crappy way to start the day.

    On to cycle 3.
