Re: Tuberville IS GONE...

  • Birmingham News says fired.  OA News says resigned.  Gone either way.

  • Well that is sad.  But if I had just gotten fired/resigned knowing that I would be getting 3 million in 30 days and then 3 million within a year, it would make it a little easier.  Maybe they will ax the atheltic director and Tommy will step in........
  • this sucks. nobody knows whether he resigned/was fired but either way i wish he wasn't.
  • This totally sucks.  I wish he wasn't.
  • I am very saddened by this news :( I love Tubby!
  • I love Auburn, but I've never been a fan of Tubby (yes, even when he was winning I wasn't thrilled with him) - and I think this was a really stupid move on Auburn's part.  I'm actually really scared to see what happens next...
  • Geez Louise.
    :::sigh:::

I suppose 3 mil could keep me warm at night and I'd go too. I just wish he could have gone out on a better note. Makes me sad.

  • I can't believe he got fired or resigned. He has an 8 and 4 average over 10 years. That's better than Bamas. I think it was really stupid and whoever snatches him up is lucky. I don't like Tubby and I never have but he is a good coach. (and this is coming from a Bama fan) I heard rumors State was looking at him.

  • I am the farthest thing from an Auburn fan, but I sure don't think he deserved to be fired.  One loosing season isn't worth firing the coach over...and it will be tough to find a coach, recruiting will be tough, and it will just cause the team a huge setback.

  • I am really sad about this. Tuberville was such a good person and coach. He's had so much success about Auburn, and it's not fair to him or the team or the fans to make such a big fuss over one season. I could almost bet that some big wig on the Board of Trustees at AU offered enough money to cover Tuberville's buyout and it all snowballed from there....

I wonder which trustee....hmmm...could it possibly be one of the newest members of our church?

  • Hmmmm...could it be???? That's what I heard earlier today...not sure if it's true or not though...
  • yes Brad was busy, still is as the press conf is this morning at 11am.  He didn't get home til after 9pm last night.

I think there is a lot more to it than people know.  No one REALLY knows but Tubs, Jay J and Jay G.

I know that Tubs wasn't happy himself and he's stated that he wants to take time off.  There is a lot going on.

I have so much I would like/want to say..............and I'm not for or against it either way b/c I don't know which was is best.  But I do like Tubs as a person and I wish him the best.

  • plus, let me ask you this - what is not to like about a coach who has a great record over 10 yrs (take away his first year when he still had the probation stuff and was rebuilding and then this past year), you never hear about a player in trouble, our graduation rate is consistently in the top tier (I believe we are in the top 5?!!?!?, I could be wrong) and the players love him?!!?

It's like the CEO of a company, he's never going to get a resounding approval rate.

Again, I like him but who's to say we won't like the next one?

  • It really blew me away!!  It is so crazy to have one bad season..and get fired over it!!  Just look at the other conferences...if Bob Stoops (Oklahoma's coach)....or Jim Tressel (Ohio State) had a bad season..or two....their jobs would not be in jeopardy!!  For some reason in the SEC we have almost unrealistic expectations of our coaches!

I am not the biggest Tuberville fan..I will admit....but I think he should have been given the opportunity to turn the program around.  We have had such a great record with him...it is crazy to just let him go.  I think with the right offensive coordinator on the team we could have a much better '09 season.  Now I am just scared of what this next season....or next few seasons will be like....and what is this going to do for our recruiting?!?!
