Re: three weeks...

  • I think we have everything for the kids. It is all sitting in big brown boxes (we ordered everything online) in our dining room. We need to open it all and start wrapping - and make sure we have everything we ordered.

I need to pick up a few more things for L. We are supposedly only doing stockings, but I found some other things that she needs/wants so I'm getting those.

I need to figure out what to get my mom, buy it, and get it to her. I just bought my dad's gift but forgot to have them ship it to him - so it'll come to me and I'll need to ship it. Darn.

We'll finish decorating the house this weekend. It doesn't seem like Christmas. *sigh*

  • i'm really bummed that we haven't been able to set up the tree or anything yet. i think i'm going to try to pull out the wreath tonight if nothing else, and i'm hoping we can find some time this weekend to get the tree up. we have a few other winter decorations that i'd like to get up, as well.

i'm getting c's present tonight: a wii fit. they finally have it in stock at my sister's store, so i'm meeting her there after work so i can get her discount--assuming they haven't sold out by then. she said they got in a lot of them, though, and thinks they should still have them. i just need to get her stocking stuffers and ornament and i'll be set.

we're not doing family gifts on my side except for the kids. we just do one thing every year for each house: a box of art supplies. done! i'll do something small for my sister, i just need to figure out what. we said no gifts for my parents, either, but i have a multi-photo frame that i have sitting in my office not being used. they don?t really have many pictures from our wedding, so i?m going to print some (and a few from other occasions as well) and give it to them. they?ll love it.

we've got her niece taken care of, as well, but we need to get a small gift for her sister and something for her parents. i think she's taking care of that. i hope she is. i'm the worst shopper ever, i never know what to get people--especially her parents.

i still need to get my cards out!

  • Just last night I found airfare to Cali for $500. I have a buy one get one pass so we may just be able to get home for Christmas afterall.  If we do go then we won't be doing any decorating at home or any presents.  I haven't bought cards yet and I'm not feeling it this year.  I need to and I like to, but the season just hasn't hit me yet.

oh, nice, i hope you get to go. i have to say i'm not feeling the cards so much this year either, although we did buy some and have quite a few random ones left from the last few years that we'll be using up (that's not a faux pas, is it?). i'm hoping once we get some decorations up i'll be more into all of it.

  • this post is mean.

you can probably guess i'm in the "oh goodness no!" category!

  • I said "sort of" because while I am emotionally ready, I am a little behind on certain tasks...

C and I are both really excited this year and can't wait to get our tree up this weekend!  I've been buying ornaments and all such goodies for a few weeks now, got egg nog yesterday and am already listening to xmas music at home.  We've planned out our gifts for family, for the most part - just need to buy.  And I've already got C done.

But....  I have not even TOUCHED our holiday cards!  I started an excel sheet of addresses, but haven't even gone through and edited it.  Maybe this Saturday while C is at class I'll finally tackle that project!

  • We're done with shopping - about 20 days earlier than normal. We usually don't get a tree since we're never here for the holiday, but the rest of our decorations (stockings, nutcrackers...that's about it) are out. Here's what I have left on my list:

    - Make my sister's cross-stitch thing (start to finish....uh oh!)

    - Wrap and mail the gifts for my parents and sister so we don't have to take them to the airport

    - Wrap and mail gifts to a couple of friends who live out of town

    - Make candy and cookies; wrap and mail to relatives

    - Address Christmas cards and mail them out; nag Jen until she finishes writing hers so I can address them and mail them out?
