So I want to get a Christmas gift for my morning bus drivers. My afternoon bus driver doesn't do anything special, but my morning bus drivers (I seem to alternate between 2 times of buses) are really awesome - the entrance to the courthouse is about 1/3 block or so before the bus stop, and whenever possible, they drop me off right outside the door instead of at the stop. They're especially nice about it when the weather is yucky or it's cold.
But what does one get a bus driver? Since my stop is the end of the line, I can give it to them as I get off without making a scene. Gift card? To where? Homemade goodies? Smokes? Does giving my bus driver a Christmas present make me a creepy passenger?
Re: Yet another Xmas gift question
I'm a fan of gift cards or homemade goodies. Maybe some xmas candy or chocolate covered pretzels?
They might think you're creepy until they open the present. They'll you just be the most awesome passenger. : )
They might have something in their employee rules prohibiting them from taking tips, and a gift card could probably be considered a tip. There's also usually weird rules about gifts that public employees can recieve.
I'd give baked goods or something that you can't easily place a value on.
I don't think it makes you a creepy passenger! I think it is nice!
This is a good point. I have a friend who works for transit, so I'll ask her before I do anything.
I love baking, but I just wanted to make sure that giving cookies to my driver wouldn't make me seem weird.
