lol not really. I didn't even negotiate!
So my teaching contract ends at Christmas break. My school asked me to stay on and I said I needed to think about it. The commute is killing me (1.5 hours each way and a lot of that is walking through the cold rain). I also feel like I haven't been able to see any of London, and I would love to be able to travel with DH when he goes on business trips. I love my job, but I honestly barely make more than my commute cost and We are leaving in July to go back to the states anyway.
So I sat down with my department head and she asked me why I was unsure of what to do. Every time I mentioned a concern, she came back with a fabulous offer! I wasn't even trying to negotiate because frankly I didn't think it was an option. I now have fridays off completely (so I can travel, see london, and take a break from the commute.) I lose a day of pay, but its worth it. She also took my worst class from me and gave me A level (aka the highest level kids who are taking math above what our AP math is like) classes! Its impossible to get A level classes over here! holy cow!
She also scheduled an extra planning period for me two of the 4 days I work so I can prep for my A level classes since they are so challenging and I've never taught it before. The assistant principal is a jerk and keeps putting me on sub duty during my planning periods because I'm the only non union member in our school. So she is scheduling my free periods as set planning periods so he can't do that.
I'm so excited
Re: I am the world's best negotiator
my read shelf:
That's great! You must be doing a fabulous job!
Hey, isn't it the middle of the night in London? What the heck are you doing up?
Anything you can achieve through hard work, you could also just buy.
Its 6:08 on a friday night. I'm not THAT pathetic that I'm asleep yet
But I am pathetic enough that I'm home. DH will have to work until about 1 am tonight, and I have a lot to do around the house so I'm staying in.
