ugh, more silly name dilemmas (sorry to bother you.again.).  Okay, so you know how I joked that i just wasnt going to go out of the country until obama got rid of DOMA?....well, then i won this cruise and i take it back Embarrassed

I entered the contest using my married name (i was excited to use it and didnt think it mattered....), thus my cruise is booked in said married name.

My passport is in my maiden name and the rest of my IDs (ss, drivers license, ect) are currently in maiden but I was going to change them this coming week to married.

I just spoke to the rep at Olivia and explained my dilemma - she said as long as i bring my marriage license it'll be fine. Is that right?? didn't you have this same exact problem?  ie. all documents and cruise booked in married but passport still in maiden

Re: **Brit**

  • No problem!  Yes, I did have basically the same dilemma, but I wasn't taking my trip on a lesbian cruise line Smile.  If the rep at Olivia said that's all you need - I would go with that.

Straight couples only need to show marriage license - I was worried that my license wouldn't be accepted by Royal Carribbean and then I'd be stranded in Puerto Rico while my entire family boarded the ship, haha!  But it makes total sense that Olivia would accept it.  As long as it shows on the license that you were going to change your name - I believe it says "Surname after marriage," right?  As long as it shows A's last name there, it sounds like you'll be all set.

You could always call another Olivia rep to confirm.  I still can't believe you guys won that trip!! So exciting!!

  • thanks hon :) i'm sure i'm worrying about this more than i need to!

the marriage license does have A's name as my surname after marriage so i should be fine.  Did you have to show your passport when you went to port?

  • I believe that they checked drivers' lisences at port - but I remember it being pretty laid back - like they barely even looked.
