Did anyone else get married on Leap day?
Even though this board is quiet, I thought I would ask. If so how are you doing the anniversary thing?

Re: Did anyone else get married on Leap day?
i did. i love leap day.
we will celebrate either day (to me, it's not the DATE that is important - it's what the day was about).
every four years however, we plan on doing something special. a vacation, or a big gift to ourselves (DH eventually wants a hottub).
although ... we're jumping the gun a bit and planned a "honeymoon part 2" for this coming february. getting the sandals vacations in before the babies!
We are only going to celebrate every four years, so it can be a big celebration. We plan on having a champagne toast at midnight between the 28th and the 1st.
We have not honeymooned yet, so we are going to do something this April.
Tell me more about your leap day wedding, please.
Ours was loosley frog themed and we planned it in slightly less than 2 months.
i'd love to talk wedding details.
it was very formal for a friday evening - held at a local ballroom. winter themed - in whites, fuschias and turqoises. we had snowflakes incorporated on the std's, invitations and cake. if you click on my links down below you can get an idea what it looked like.
most of my planning was done from november to february. being it was winter i didnt have the need to compete for any of my vendors.
the champagne toast is an adorable idea! i honestly dont stay up much past 10pm - i'd never make a midnight toast!
how did you work frogs into your wedding? im not sure ive ever seen that done.
Ours was a very informal wedding. There was no formal engagement, we just randomly decided in late December that we wanted to get married on Leap day. We had 34 guests and three of them were under 7. We invited immediate family and closest friends only, because we both come from huge familys.
I decided that frogs would be fun because they leap. I block printed the invitations with a frog, My husband made 36 origami frogs that we used for place cards/ favors. Our cake was light blue with water lilies, and the women at work gave me a ceramic frog cake topper, which we set in front of the cake. I also block printed my thank you notes with the same frog from the invitations.
I checked out your bio, and your wedding seemed beautiful. I love your bride's maid dresses. the whole thing was very elegant.
the cake--
Origami frogs--
i didnt even think of "frogs" and "leaping". adorable.
Update on the anniversary issue--
We had all intentions of only celebrating our anniversary every four years, until today. When we got home from Boston, my neighbor brought over a package. A good friend of ours, sent us a wedding present. One of the items is an anniversary generator. It is a set of three dice. A twelve sided die for the months, a four sided die for the tens place and an 8 sided die for the ones digit of the day (If we get a date that doesn't exist we get to roll again). It is a really fun present, because now we have to celebrate once a year
i think i understand ...
so you'll roll january 1 to see what day you'll celebrate your anniversary for the upcoming year?
Hi fellow leap day brides!
Our wedding was a small destination wedding in Scotland at an estate house (we rented it for the week and everyone stayed there). We had a simple ceremony with a minister in the living room and a catered dinner in the formal dining room. It was pouring rain and freezing cold, so we were glad we planned everything so we didn't have to leave the house.
We plan to celebrate on our dating anniversary (we were together for 8 years before we got married) and a big celebration (probably a trip) on the official day every 4 years. We have thought about doing champagne or something on the 28th/1st, but haven't commited to it or anything.
BTW - The dice is a really cute idea!
