AW: Ran my first 5K race!

I just got back from the OUC 5K with a finish time of under 35 minutes! today's race finishes out my couch to 5k program :-)

Anyone going to be at the reindeer run in maitland next sat?

Re: AW: Ran my first 5K race!

  • Good for you. I wish I was that motivated.
  • Yayyy! That's so exciting! I was wondering how C25K was going for you. DH and I just started week seven today, so we're getting there, but it's still pretty challenging. I think we're going to practice for a couple more months before we do any races, but I'm hoping maybe by springtime we can enter something. Keep us posted if you're running anything in the springtime.

    Congratulations!

  • Congrats!! That's a great accomplishment and a great time .

  • Congratulations! That's awesome! I am doing the maitland race next weekend. I am afraid to say that I am really sucking, but I am going to do it anyway! I am only able to run about a half a mile to a mile without stopping (which is way better then I could have done when I started, but I won't be able to run the whole thing without stopping like I had hoped). I am really excited about it though and still enjoying my runs. I think my problem was that I ran the first 4 weeks of C25K on a treadmill and running on the ground is so very different. I've done all my runs on the ground since week 4 and now I am on week 8 and just feel really behind. But I'm hanging in there! Hearing about your race today is a motivator!
  • don't worry about walking a little bit... i walked a bit after mile one and again after mile two and i still made it in under 35 min! i even skipped all of week 8 b/c it was during thanksgiving week and i still made it! you can do it!
