another question. restaurants
Michael Smith or Harry Starker Reserve??? FIL asked us to check out menus and choose a spot. Which do you recommend? MS seemes a bit too eclectic, while HSR seems too blah?
Re: another question. restaurants
I'd say Michael Smith, but I have never been to Starker's Reserve so take my opinion lightly. I think you have hit the nail on the head with the differences. From what I have heard, Starker's is old school, Plaza, traditional fine dining. Michael Smith is contemporary fine dining in the Crossroads Art District. The locations are pretty representative of the differences.
The head chef of Starker's worked under Michael Smith at 40 Sardines, which was a really highly rated restuarant in Leawood, until it closed a year or so ago. I think they both have a history at the American Restarant too. Smith also won a James Beard award which doesn't happen often in KC- so if you are into that kind of thing- you might pick Michael Smith.
