How much cash for 5-day Chicago trip?
First, I'd like to say how much I appreciate the help I got with my last post about navigating the city. I feel so much better about it now! Now I'm curious about how much cash I should bring with us for our 5-day (M-F) trip next week. Our hotel, CTA passes, airport shuttles, and Second City tickets are already paid for. We plan on walking Michigan Avenue (where we will be staying) to look at the lights, etc. We also plan to visit the Hancock Observatory, Water Tower Place mall, Millenium Park, Navy Pier, and Christkindl Market. We will be eating out for lunch and dinner every day, but prefer fairly cheap places (ex. Ed Debevic's, Portillo's, but also Quartino and Grand Luxe Cafe). It will only be DH and me. In our everyday lives we usually pay for all expenses with a credit card that we pay off every pay period to make things easy. We also plan to use this while we are in Chicago. However, how much cash do you think we should bring to be on the safe side? Thanks again!

Because we're fancy like that.
In case you're concerned about carrying cash for cab rides, it certainly makes things easier. Just know that cabbies do accept credit as well. They may not like it (I believe they have to pay a credit card fee for each transaction and this fee is not the rider's responsibility) but they must accept that payment. (Local news did a report on this confirming that cabbies must accept credit payment).
