how to prepare tofu??

jordyn tried some tofu while we were out to dinner one day, she enjoyed it yesterday i bought some extra firm tofu. but have no clue how to give it to her??

any ideas. TIA!

Re: how to prepare tofu??

  • I sometimes steam my tofu for a few minutes or lightly pan fry is with some cooking spray.
  • I'm asian and we eat a lot of tofu. If you want to serve it as a side dish, you can slice it up in to small blocks, sear it in a pan, and drizzle some soy sauce, chopped green onions, and sesame oil, and seaseme seeds.

Another fav recipe is tofu curry. get jar of curry from Trader Joe's. Chop onions, garlic, and sautee in pan, add the tofu cubes and cook, then lower heat and add the jar of curry and simmer for like 10 minutes. serve over rice.

there's a spicy korean tofu dish called soon du boo, soft tofu. it's becoming popular with non-koreans lately.

you can often substitute tofu for almost anything at asian restaurants.

  • I buy the firm tofu and just give it to Gavin straight out of the package.
  • I like it cubed and stirred into soup. I think it works well in place of noodles. Jordyn might like it straight out of the package, though, b/c it will be slippery and fun to eat (like jello, sort of)
