FL nestie coming to Knoxville for the night.

Dh and I are driving to MI for the holidays, and are planning on making a stop in Knoxville for the night. Any ideas on good hotels, we don't want anything in the ghetto though either. Neither of us has ever been, and we'll be there for dinner and breakfast in the morning, so maybe some things to do at night and some good places to eat would be nice to know as well.

I don't know that Knoxville really has a "ghetto". I have stayed at several Hampton Inns when traveling there for work, all of which have been nice.

Hi, Hope not too late.  You will like the Hilton Knoxville.  I think it is located in the heart of downtown.  There is always something going on downtown.  Nice shops and resturants on Gay Street (main road in downtown), for dinner I would suggest checking out Calhouns on the River, really good food, and save your bread and go down to the river and feed the ducks!  There is new movie theather on gay street if you wish to watch a movie.  If you are into bars, there are plenty there too! The only advice I can give you is that they have shut down I40 thru downtown, I think you can detour and have no problems, but just be aware!  Have a good time, and let me know if you have any questions.
