What are you getting your grandmothers?
Those of you that have grandmothers, what are you getting them this year? I am so out of ideas, and over the past few years we've bought everything you can buy a grandma... robes, slippers, pjs, candles, lotions, etc etc.
We are sooo out of ideas!
Re: What are you getting your grandmothers?
We got mine a hummingbird feeder and a daily Bible calendar. We are thinking about ordering a simple remote control for her. She has problems with the digital cable remote.
She also really likes getting gloves and funky socks.
Is she in the Huntsville Red Hat Society? Rick's grandmother is in that.
I got both sets of grandmothers photo books from blurb.com and wrapped them like reindeer. I posted a picture on facebook.
Hummm...think of her in a different way, as a woman, not a "grandmother" and you might think up all kinds of fun things. The word grandmother may limit your thinking, it would probably limit mine. I think she might like anything any other woman would like. I have people coming into the store all the time looking for grandmother gifts and they always think in terms of lotions. If her health permits...take her out to lunch, give her a trip to the hairdresser for something like a wash and style, how about a manicure or pedicure, a foot massage, a new fragrance...spend some quality time with her, just the two of you. Quality time can't be wrapped up with a bow but to me it's the best gift ever.
I bought my grandmother a double 5x7 photo frame. I'm going to put two photos of us (probably from the wedding) in it. I thought about getting her another set of pajamas or robe or whatever, but she doesn't really need it! I think she'll appreciate the pics.
My grandmother is very into Christmas so I got her a red tote bag that she can use when she travels to all of the grandchildren houses. It says Ho ho ho and has pictures in all of the Os. I think she will love it. We only swap presents with one of DH's grandmothers (the other one demanded that we not do gifts years ago since all she wants is to see her family). So we got her a set of gourmet tea. It has like 20 different types of tea in it.
I agree with Jane. I think a lot of those ideas would be wonderful presents!
She's in the one in the Shoals. But they do things with one of the Huntsville groups sometimes.
That's the boat I'm in. My grandma has recently had both hips replaced, so she doesn't get around very well. She pretty much only gets out to go to the pharmacy and to the doctor.
She's really picky. She appreciates gifts like candles and lotions, but she doesn't really LOVE them. She has arthritis and various foot issues, so lots of slippers/socks are becoming painful to her, so I don't want to go there again. She's really hot natured, so she doesn't do sweatsuits or things like that. She doesn't really read or have any kind of hobby like sewing or knitting or anything like that... gah. It's so hard!
