Relocating to the Knoxville area...

Hi!

I am a 1st grade teacher and my husband is starting a new job next week in Knoxville.  We live in South Carolina right now.  I am planning on finishing out the school year, which means we will be living apart during the week.  In the meantime, I am researching like crazy!

-Please tell me any great elementary schools/ districts to send my resume to.

-Please tell me some nice areas in which to relocate.

Thanks a bunch!!

Re: Relocating to the Knoxville area...

  • Oh gosh, good luck living apart!  I know that will be tough!

There aren't many (or any) Knoxville nesties, but we Nashville girls are friendly :)

  • I think there is a Knoxville girl on the BNOTB board but be careful they tend to flame easily at new people.  I'm just a lurker on there.
  • Hello

As far as teachers go, Knox County's website is http://knoxschools.org. They have all the openings for the county schools, there are some private schools in the county, but as far as those I can't name them. Depends on what part of the area you go, North is Anderson County. www.acs.ac is the site for the schools here. Then in Anderson County is Oak Ridge, they are not part of county, www.ortn.edu is their site. My mother in law, brother in law and friend are all teachers in elementary school. Hope this gives you a start. Let me know if I can help further.

  • Hi There!  As like previous poster, you would need to go to Knox County school system if you wish to teach in Knoxville.  Depending on where you will be living, you could check out blount county and maryville and maybe loudon county schools as well.  Sorry I don't have their website addresses. Does you husband have a area of Knoxville that he is currently living in now?  Depending on it you buy or rent, I would check the west part of Knoxville for apartments, and there is more to do in that area.  If you wish to purchase, the north part, fountain city and corryton area have some good deals.  It just depends on what you want, close proximity to things, or more land.  Good luck, and let me know if I can help you.  I can look up some name of private schools if you are interested.

  • We're in the district for Bluegrass Elementary School, which I have heard is excellent, as is A.L. Lotts, which is very close as well (I could walk to either in less than 15 minutes and drive in about two). I love living here as well and would highly recommend it. Good luck!
