Sleet!

When DH told me that he heard a cold front was going to be moving through tonight, I almost laughed 'cause a SA cold front is not quite the same as the Pittsburgh, PA, ones that I'm used to!  Stick out tongue  But I just took the dogs out, and there's a nice little coating of ice all over the place out there, and it's still coming down!  Nice!  (This is a lot closer to the Decembers that I'm used to, although I have been enjoying the 70-80 degree days.)

I just hope that everything clears up by the time DH has to leave for work in like 6 hours.  What happens when there's ice on the roads around here?  I assume there aren't any salt trucks or anything, right?  I'm not worried about DH's driving--he has plenty of practice driving in the winter--but I'm not so sure about all those TX natives who'll be on I-10 at the same time he is...Does the whole city become paralyzed when something like this happens, or is it not a big deal?

Re: Sleet!

  • people are bad drivers no matter what, it doesnt slow anyone down. it could be hailing and tornadoes on the roads and people would drive like their normal crazy selves:)

  • "paralyzed" is a good way to put it. when we have ice storms they salt or sand the highway bridges. but the city pretty much shuts down when that happens...

Yep. They get the "trouble" areas like that and pretty much shut everything down. People don't know what to do when it rains around here let alone snow and ice!
