north shore meet up ...?

What happened to this group?  Did you guys ever meet?

Re: north shore meet up ...?

  • I was wondering the same thing!  I joined but didn't go to the meet-up, then I got an e-mail saying the group owner was resigning and asking for volunteers to head the group.  That's all I know.  It was a great idea, I hope it's not gone for good.

  • I thought it was a great idea too.  I don't know many people in my area and thought it would be a great way to connect to other girls.  Maybe we'll just have to get a group together or something in the future if no one else takes it over.
  • I find it highly odd that someone (a nestie) would create a Meetup group (which has a fee, btw).... set up a meetup event..... and then mysteriously step down as organizer all within 1 week.

It's sad that someone would even bother to start it up and then not follow through a week later. I could pick it up to organize, but honestly, I have more than enough on my plate as it is. If any of you nesties are interested, you're more than welcome to join in my Meetup group. It's not specific to nesties, but many nesties and quite a few newlyweds/young couples are in my group... many of which have moved here and are new to the Chicago area. We're not in the 'North Shore' however live very close to the Chicago/Evanston border. Quite a few members who participate in our events are from Park Ridge, Schaumburg, Grayslake, Lake Bluff, Gurnee, Evanston, etc so you don't have to be in the city to join in the fun.

    What's Cookin Chicago

  • i was bummed as well...i actually went to McCormick and Shmicks because i didnt realize the organizer had stepped down...thanks for the invite to your meetup group joelen...my husband and i are new to the area and are looking to meet some people.

  •

Perhaps what we could do is to have a meet up sometime in the new year, after the Christmas season.  At least then things will slow down some for all of us.

I wanna get to know you chicago nesties more.

Where are you guys from?     I live in Lake County near Gurnee.

When did you get married?    Feb 16 2008

What are some of your interests?   Art and design, photography, cooking, anything creative, movies, reading.

  • I think a meet-up in January is probably best.  I'd be up for something north of the city - I live in Lake County.

She is a lab/boxer mix, we're told - we got her from a rescue.  She's about 8 months now and about 50 pounds (the pic is old).  We LOVE the dog parks in Lake County - definitely check them out when the weather's nicer!  What kind of doggy do you have?

  • What a cute puppy.  We have a Yorkie; shes all of 4 pounds at 11 months old.  She is a ruffy tuffy though, she'll go up to big dogs and play with them.  :)
