Which game system for DH?

I'm considering buying DH a game system for Christmas.  We just got a new 50in plasma tv and blu-ray dvd player and now we're looking at games.  DS is only 2, but I'm guessing he might be ready to play "something" now, and definitely in a few more months.

Which system do you own and why?

Which would you recommend?  Playstation 3, Xbox, or Wii?

Thanks

Re: Which game system for DH?

  • We don't personally own a game system - with a 17 month old, we just wouldn't have time to play it. ;) But most of the guys I know seem to favor the Wii. If I were to purchase a system today, it would be Wii just for Wii Fit!

  • we have a 360, and they have fun kids games..but my vote is for the Wii!!  it is interactive, which is nice, and is really fun for a group of adults too when the kiddos are in bed!

  • Depends on what kind of games your DH is into. For you and your DS, I'd definitely say the Wii because it has a lot of fun, family-friendly games for it. BUT I've heard less good things about some of the more complicated adult games. I think some of the popular role-playing games, for example, are not on the Wii yet.

If your husband is currently interested in gaming at all, I would definitely ask him which one he wants or at least pick his brain about which games he finds interesting and see what's available for what system. Most of the guys I know (yes, including grownups) have very strong opinions on which system is the best, so I think getting the "right" system is more important than having it be a surprise. That's just my two cents though.

    Happy shopping! :-)

  • def the wii.

DH got it for his birthday earlier this year.  Its def. the most family friendly (and I like it too!)

  • We have all of them. Literally, pick one, we have it. Electronics is the one department I cannot win an argument on.

The Playstation 3 IS a blue ray player, so if you want to go that route, you don't need both. The Wii will be more family oriented when  your son is a little older. My 4 year old niece loves to drive on Mario Cart....she crashes a lot but its fun. There are WAY more games for the XBOX 360 though. My DH is actually trying to sell his extra XBOX 360....he has 2, I don't know why....if you're looking to buy one cheaper/userd.

If you have more specific questions, my DH loves to talk about all of it and I'm sure he'd help you pick the right thing. Good luck!

  • we have them all but for your DS I'd go with the Wii. You hubby might like the PS or XBox better though..
  • DH has X-Box and LOVES it!
