So I found this "older lesbians" chat room. I thought it might be an interesting place to meet new people, talk about various issues since there are many from abroad on there, etc. What I found though was that they were like a clique in high school. You weren't really allowed in and they were...well...I hate to say it...but really BITCHY! WTF??? I was under the impression we were a family and all were welcome. But this is not so apparently. And when I say "older", I mean in general the people were in their late 30's to 50's.
I was surprised at the lack of hospitality. Was I wrong to expect to be let IN since I am after all an "older lesbian" too?
Oh well...another experiment gone wrong for me...lol.

Re: Lesbian Chat Rooms...
message boards/chat rooms can have really distinct personalities and cultures - its crazy.
sorry you had a bad experience with that one, but i'm sure there are others who would be much more welcoming.

well I have definitely had experiences with unfriendly girls and their cliques. But in all fairness, this happens with straights too. So I guess I was just pissed they were being so crappy to me in that room. We have fabulous friends of course and when we go to various clubs, sometimes we find cool chicks...and sometimes they act like we are lepers. Again, this can happen regardless of sexual orientation.
thanks for the replies though! And for listening to my vent...
I have found this to be a VERY nice group...especially in comparison. And I went to that room for a week to give it a honest chance. Oh well. I appreciate you all and being able to chat with you all in this forum.
I mean after all...we're family...right? :-)
When we moved to San Diego... it took forever to make ANY friends in the lesbian community there. And even after 4 years, the only real friends we had were those that worked at the Youth Center I volunteered at.
Then we move back to Baton Rouge and it is just as bad here. We have been back 3 years and the only reason we have infiltrated here is bc I happen to befriend a chick on MySpace that is like the center of the social network here...
It's really weird to me. Most of the girls here are from here and never left. They have known each other since high school or atleast college...
It's always easier to befriend the boys!
