:( Stupid Christmas tree!

So I finally convinced DH that after 8 years of spinning aluminum it was time for a REAL Christmas tree.  So we ran out to Lowes this afternoon to pick one out.  We got lucky and they were unloading the truck of fresh trees right as we walked in.  We picked up one, cut open the twine and it was perfect!  I was holding the tree up so DH could take a look at it and the needles were scratching my arm, but I thought nothing of it.  We gave it to the lady who was trimming the stumps and wrapping them up and went to stand in line to pay.

Well, my arm was feeling really hot, and itching, I looked down and I had a huge rash of bright red bumps.  I showed my DH and he said "no way, the last thing I need is to have an itchy pregnant lady in the house".  I've had real trees all my life untill we got the aluminum spinner and have NEVER had a problem.  I'm so sad about not getting my tree, the rash is practically gone, and I'm really wishing I had just kept my big mouth shut.

  • That made me laugh. Maybe tell DH that you were allergic to the twine OR maybe that you are only allergic to Lowe's trees - try Home Depot :)

But, in all honesty, better safe than sorry.

P.S. I ate the last of your cake balls for lunch Embarrassed

  • Aww that sucks.  So sorry your wish for a real tree didn't come true.

This is our first year with a fake tree, and even though it's less messy than the real thing, I really miss the real tree smell.

  • It might be just b/c ur preggo! I had a similar problem with my grandpa's dog. I picked him up and about 10 minutes later I had this bad rash on my arm. I must've been sensitive to his flea powder but it was one that he has been using for awhile even before my pregnancy. And I always pick him up. It didn't shock me b/c I read in "what to expect when expecting" that your skin might get over sensitive.

  • I get the same way.  I think it is only a contact rash though. After touching them and setting up the ornaments I used to get this way. Aww sorry!
