Christmas gift for daycare provider?

I'm really stumped on this on.. Brianna has a WONDERFUL daycare provider.  It's an inhome daycare, so just one lady, about mid 30s, and has three kids.  Very busy woman!   She never takes time for herself, so I"d like to be able to get her something just for HER... but I remember her telling me her husband got her a spa GC last year for her birthday and she hasn't even gone yet.  So.. I'm not sure she'd have the time to do something like that.  The only thing that comes to mind are an Edible Arrangement or anything food..  any other ideas?

Re: Christmas gift for daycare provider?

  • I have no idea but I'm in the same boat. We can't afford to give her a week's bonus pay. Maybe some yummy cookies and . . . ? No idea!!
  • Last year when Ari was in an in home daycare we got our provider a Longhorn gift card and I let Ari pick out an ornament for her.  Her and her husband used the gift card for a night out and they really enjoyed it, from what they said anyway.  HTH!
  • I am the same way - (or I was) so busy that I never made the spa appointments.  I sit here right now with 3 expired spa g/cs and one that is about to expire.

I like the food gift idea, but just a head's up - (I know, from the fruit hater - but this is from my dad).  My dad said that he appreciated the thought, but when fruit is all already cut up like that, it's not really the best gift for a small family - (namely my dad and brother) - they felt bad because a lot of it went bad before they could eat it - and they had taken it apart and put it in tupperwares and everything.

Does she like coffees?  Teas?  You could do a breakfast basket with jams, cookies, coffee/tea, bread loaf mix, muffin mix or pancake mix and syrup.

Or do an Italian dinner basket - with sauce, pasta, bread sticks, flavored olive oil, biscotti?  Or a chocolate basket?  I am all about the food gifts...

  • I like those decorative jars with the pretty arranged dry ingredients in side to make cake, cookies, or hot cocoa.
  • I'm not sure where in NH you are but one of the preschool teachers at my work got an A la Carte gift certificate to a bunch of restaurants in Portsmouth. Not sure how much it costs but it sounds like a great gift.
