Ideas for a NYE trip close to N'ville?

Sooo . . . . my DH and I had everything all lined up with the travel agent to go to an all inclusive resort in Mexico during the week between Christmas and New Years.  Mr. dr., however, said he!! no (in not so many words!), and limited our travel to 2-3ish hours from home.  I'd be willing to stretch the distance just a bit :)

I reeaaallly want to get away over the holiday.  It has to be something low key - not a ton of walking around, shopping etc. (which is why the beach in Mexico was perfect.  Any ideas or suggestions?

  • I'm not sure how close to N'ville ou wanna be, but up near Clarksville is Land Between the Lakes. They have cabins, I think... that may be too outdoorsy though more like camping maybe.

There are several good B&Bs in the outskirts.

    Goodluck!!!

  • Hey Beth! ?Thinking of you all the time and sending you hugs.

?So sorry about the Mexico trip! ?I'd recommend these 2 places:

    ?Dancing Bear Lodge

    Blackberry Farm

    Take care of yourself,

I second this place. ?There is a state park (Paris Landing) ?that has cabins and a hotel, the hotel is a little run down though but the cabins are better. ?There are also bed and breakfast places around there. ??

  • We just got back from a trip here.  It is PERFECT for staying in and cuddling up this time of year. Just a warning that a lot of the shops there were getting ready to close up for the season, so it may be a bit of a ghost town. But they have a fantastic spa (I think you deserve a few spa treatments!) and I believe all the rooms have fireplaces. We spent most of our time there laying by the fire playing backgammon.

Also, it's about a five-hour drive from here and can be a dicey drive up the mountain this time of year depending on the weather, so not sure if you'd want to risk that.

Whatever you decide I hope it's the perfect getaway for you. You deserve it!

  • I second the rec for Dancing Bear...also a very nice place for a quiet getaway.
