Christmas Spirit

Are you in the Christmas Spirit this year?
Do you have any Christmas traditions?
What's the best part of Christmas?
Worse?

Re: Christmas Spirit

  • Heeck yes I am in the Christmas spirit! This weekend is full of holiday parties and events, so i'm really excited about that! I don't normally post on this board, just sometimes lurk.. but it's nice to see a positive post on this board- it's a shame that is board isn't more active! What about you? Any Xmas related plans this weekend?

Not as much as I usually am. Christmas is my favorite time of the year, though. I'm used to the weather being really chilly and having at least one snow fall by now. It's going to be strange this year because my brother is over in Afghanistan, so he won't be home for Christmas. My husband also got laid off 3 weeks ago due to the economy, so that is definately having an impact on our Christmas. I usually like to purchase toys to donate for kids and different charities, but we're not able to this year and that makes me very sad.

Do you have any Christmas traditions?

Well, we just got married last year, so we're still making our own traditions. It's been very hectic this year, so no new traditions have really been made. When I lived up in NJ, we would go to see Christmas lights in the same part of town every year. We also went to go see the  Christmas light "dueling houses" in my hometown. We went to the candlelight processional this year and are hoping to go see the Osbourne lights, so maybe that'll become a tradition!

What's the best part of Christmas?

The best part is seeing the look on the faces of the people you give gifts to. It's a wonderful feeling to see people so happy. The holiday treats aren't so bad, either...lol

    Worst?

The worst part of Christmas is that it's over so soon. You wait all year for this one day, preparing and anxiously waiting, then, it's over so fast!

    Yes, can't you tell.

    Of course, can't you see.

What we're doing in the picture, natch.

Not doing what we're doing in the picture.

Yup! This is my FAVORITE time of the year. Whether or not things are rough, I just love how everything and everyone transforms for the season.

Do you have any Christmas traditions?
This well be our 2nd Christmas as Husband and Wife but the first one in our new house so we're still ironing out "traditions." What we do is put up lots of Christmas touches inside the house and we have a Christmas village we put out as well. We also started going to Disney every years to purchase an ornament with the year on it. We also started a tradition of making a pecan recipe every year for Christmas day.

What's the best part of Christmas?
The main reason about the season. Its not about the lights, decorations, or the presents.

    Worse?
That people have forgotten the true meaning of Christmas.
The parking, traffic and rude people is pretty bad too.

062307- I know its tough being in the spirit when your DH lost his job and you really want to donate. If you really want to, go to the Dollar Tree and rack up on lots of little stuff. Its not what you want to give them but at least they have one more person caring :-) Things will get better. Its tough this year b/c its like the whole nation is in a 'funk' but this will turn around soon. Just have faith :-) If you need a little more Christmas cheer just let me know I have more than enough to spread around.

I know things have kinds sucked lately here but I wish we can do a Christmas GTG. (Its totally last minute but worth a try).
