Did you notice at any point while BFing that you had a significant decrease in milk?
I know that the output when nursing is not the same as when pumping, but I can't imagine that Blair can be getting that much more when in the last two weeks I can only pump an ounce between the two per session! She doesn't seem hungry or irritable nor is she losing weight...however, I can't tell if her 5 minute feedings are b/c she gives up b/c she's not getting enough or if that's all she's needing and my supply is adjusted accordingly.
I wouldn't worry that much, but I'm down to the last frozen milk and I wanted to replenish that supply... but I have almost no milk to pump and freeze!
Also, could that be related to the onset of menstruation again? I feel like my period could be returning soon (TMI body changes, and all that)... I would hate to dry up! I don't want to give the baby any formula.
Re: BF-ing moms: q about decreased milk
DS only nurses for about 5 minutes at a time now as well. At night before bed he'll nurse for much much longer. I just attributed it to being distracted during the day and I also read that they get much more effiecient at nursing around that age as well. If she isn't fussy about it she's probably fine.
I understand the need to build your stash! I just went and bought Mother's Milk tea from Wholefoods and some fenugreek to try to increase my supply just so i can pump more. I have to work more hours after the new year and DS wouldn't take a bottle till 5 months so I slacked on pumping...totally kicking myself now!
