Dumb closet doors!!

Can anyone suggest any other options for the bi-fold closet doors?  We have double closets in our master bedroom, the one closet is not as deep so all the hangers stick out and make the closet door not close correctly, also yesterday morning I went to push the other closet door open and the door came off the track and one of the sliders busted off, so now it wont go back on the track!!  Any suggestions?  TIA!!

Re: Dumb closet doors!!

  • Could you take them off and replace them with regular closet doors that open out (like a bedroom door or something would open) -- I've seen that done with a double-door setup.

I didn't know if you have room outside the closet for the doors to open completely...

  • yes I was thinking of that- we do have room to do that as well.....DH was thinking about hanging a curtain rod and then just have a curtain there, I don't know how that would look though...
  • I'm not sure how your closet is set up, but you could install sliding doors if it would work. If you have a small opening though, I'd probably just do regular doors.

My closet has those dumb folding ones too and I hate them! Someday I'll have a walk-in closet *sigh*

I had a curtain as a closet cover when I still lived with my parents, and let me tell you, PITA! It would always get caught on the joint in the rod (it was one of those pressure held ones, not screwed into the wall). It only lasted about a month before I took it down.

  • I was going to suggest a curtain but I never thought about it getting caught on the rod...that would be a PITA.  The doors may be your best option.
